Not long before shots rang out, rally goers noticed a man climbing to the top of a roof of a nearby building and warned local law enforcement, according to two law enforcement officials.
One officer climbed to the roof and encountered Crooks, who pointed his rifle at the officer. The officer retreated down the ladder and Crooks quickly took a shot toward former President Donald Trump, and that’s when the U.S. Secret Service counter snipers shot him, said the officials who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

I think I heard the people that saw him were outside the event near that building

The officer didn’t draw before going onto the roof?
Didn’t check the roof from the eye line?
Didn’t have their revolver out once on top of the roof if they didn’t see anything?
Ultimately this is more fallout from the summer of love 2020 and destroying our police forces nationwide.
Sounds like the shooter was rushed into taking the shots at Trump thinking he didn’t have much time after he was discovered. The officer may have unknowingly saved Trump’s life.
Always always always get on the radio first if you can’t immediately influence the situation.
If someone tells you there’s a shooter on the roof...you report it at the same time you’re climbing...and you’re NOT empty handed.
Retreated? He didn’t have a f-ing radio on him?
AP trying to blame local police to protect the Secret Service.
Blame locals?
The counter snipers had the shooter in their sights and they let him get off eight.
“This is not a battle against flesh and blood.”
At some point, stupid becomes it’s own solid element.
Little things are important in the battle. What if the officer had not distracted the shooter?
He made the shooter rush his shot.

One thought has been bothering me has to do with the SS snipers who killed the perp. Why did they not see the perp on the roof beforehand. The guy probably accessed the roof with a ladder, then crawled to his firing position, then had to get into a proper position to make a kill shot all of which takes time. If the SS snipers saw him after the five shots, why not before??
Yet he still was able to get off several shots and shoot 3 people.
My guess is that the shooter showed his FBI (agency attacking Trump for the past 8 years) legitimate I.D. badge and the officer backed down the ladder [ /sarcasm ]
Could be the reason why the shooter rushed to fire off since he was found out and missed getting a direct hit

Also, shooter fired MULTIPLE shots, so the supposed statement here by this supposed “anonymous source” is directly contradicted by the physical evidence

Maybe he wasn’t really a cop. Maybe like an police auxiliary? Not sure about this report.
