Republicans Will Regret a Second Trump Term
The New York Times ^ | July 13, 2024, 7:00 a.m. ET | Bret Stephens

Posted on 07/13/2024 6:12:25 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

Now is the summer of Republican content.

The G.O.P. is confident and unified. Donald Trump has held a consistent and widening lead over President Biden in all the battleground states. Never Trumpers have been exiled, purged or converted. The Supreme Court has eased many of Trump’s legal travails while his felony convictions in New York seem to have inflicted only minimal political damage — if they didn’t actually help him.

Best of all for Republicans, a diminished Joe Biden seems determined to stay in the race, leading a dispirited and divided party that thinks of its presumptive nominee as one might think of a colonoscopy: an unpleasant reminder of age. Even if Biden can be cajoled into quitting, his likeliest replacement is Vice President Kamala Harris, whose 37 percent approval rating is just around that of her boss. Do Democrats really think they can run on her non-handling of the border crisis, her reputation for managerial incompetence or her verbal gaffes?

In short, Republicans have good reason to think they’ll be back in the White House next January. Only then will the regrets set in.

Three in particular: First, Trump won’t slay the left; instead, he will re-energize and radicalize it. Second, Trump will be a down-ballot loser, leading to divided and paralyzed government. Third, Trump’s second-term personnel won’t be like the ones in his first. Instead, he will appoint his Trumpiest people and pursue his Trumpiest instincts. The results won’t be ones old-school Republicans want or expect.

How you gonna pay for the fence?

$36T will be the debt in November. Fences cost money. What can be cut to offset it? Nothing. Those appropriations are already passed and multi year.

GET IT THROUGH YOUR MINDS, PEOPLE. $36T MEANS DO NOTHING. DOING SOMETHING, ANYTHING, IS NOT CONSERVATIVE.

I agree. The fact we know they are going to cheat like hell really makes me uneasy because everyone knows Biden is a vegetable.

He doesn't even consider that is exactly what we (MAGA) people have been demanding for 30 years.

Come November, we’re going to be real disappointed. Biden is only staying until the convention. The DNC will then hand pick their candidate and that candidate will win in November thanks to the cheat/steal. We’re all acting like 2020 was legit. Even the conservative talking heads are acting like 2020 was legit and 2024 will be the same.

Their three points, answered:

First, Trump won't slay the left; instead, he will re-energize and radicalize it.

The ONLY way to end the Left is to fight them. Peaceful coexistence has been tried all along. It hasn't worked. They've taken over our most trusted institutions, starting with media and education and on to government workers to federal law enforcement to even the military. They MUST be fought. Not fighting is losing.

Second, Trump will be a down-ballot loser, leading to divided and paralyzed government.

I think house, Senate and state elections are looking good for Republicans against the desperate democrats and their top to bottom slate of woeful losers led by a senile old man.

Third, Trump's second-term personnel won't be like the ones in his first. Instead, he will appoint his Trumpiest people and pursue his Trumpiest instincts. The results won't be ones old-school Republicans want or expect.

Who cares what “old-school” chamber of commerce, milquetoast Republicans want or expect? Time to be conservative—not Republican. Every year they talk the talk, but once elected walk with their democrats holding their hands and expecting a reach around.

*How you gonna pay for the fence?*
Might be a good investment like the La. Purchase. Doubled the country when the country was broke.

*$36T will be the debt in November.*
$30+ trillion in our IRA’/retirement accounts. I’m sure the left is aware of that more than we are. Think of it as the financial Petroleum Reserve to be emptied.

The Author is so fundamentally wrong on so many points. It reveals how the deluded fools at the NYT see things and gives real insight into what it’s like in the bubble.

Second Trump term?!?!

This ”holy poo, Biden is senile” is nice kabuki.

In the last two elections it appeared the Dems were cooked and, voila, they weren’t. Mail-in and early and often voting have nearly made them election proof. Performance and results are no longer deciders in elections.

So, second Trump term? Not unless the RNC has stepped up its game. Not unless someone realizes that the polls could have Trump up by ten and it still would not overcome the “operation.”

Polls and votes don’t matter any longer.

Now, it is ballots. PERIOD. The Dems are masters of collecting them and figuring out how to manufacture them. The GOP? Still back in 2016 when election day was all that mattered.

Side note- the Dems can also count on their most trusted agents for some real votes. For example, there are a healthy amount of white suburban women who are so detached from reality that they would do and say whatever The View, CNN or MSNBC tell them to do.

Biden could be a dead cat (he is, actually) and it won’t matter. Not one bit. And when the counting stops at 12 and is done three days later with Biden having won? The ”media” will proclaim that the people would have rather elected dead cat than Trump.

And this time, they have precedent for how to deal with any who complain. There is a DC Federal Court and a Jack Smith type prosecutor with your name on it.

The following illustration explains why the gop suffers jet lag and is never able to advance the ball.

We have too many elected traitors in our own ranks such as this rino.....

Sen. Susan Collins told local press in Maine she would not be voting for former President Donald Trump this fall — and would instead write in Nikki Haley.

In addition, the long-time Maine Republican said President Joe Biden’s performance gave her a “sense of sadness” but didn’t call for the incumbent to suspend his bid, as some Democrats have done.

Collins told POLITICO on Thursday she would not be attending next week’s Republican Convention, which she said she often skips in favor of her state GOP convention.

At midnight on election day, all precincts must report votes by candidate, ballots counted remaining ballots and “provisional-count ballots”.

Any ballot that is not used or marked upon at the precincts AND THE PRINTING HOUSES and warehouses used for storage are to be immediately burned...on camera.
This should take place within 20 minutes of Midnaight, no negotiations.

It’s the excess ballots that give the cheaters opportunity.
