To be quite honest, I expect virtually just that: ALL grocery stores, not just mom-and-pop grocery stores, to be nationalized and controlled.
There’s a reason they don’t want private individuals farming or often, even having gardens.
Control of the food supply is control of the masses.
They’ve already learned how to control a voting block using SNAP and EBT.

I was at a church food bank in the wake of the 2008 economic crash
I stopped in to find out about services and happened to pick a day when they had a food bank going on - I had a lot of friends with dinner access but Barack Obama gas prices made it difficult to justify driving at that time (in fact I often couldn’t because I didn’t have enough gas in the car when it was $4 a gallon)
ANYWAYS, there were a couple of memorable people acting all entitled and haughty - while getting free food
I had never seen or noticed that before. Wow.

2-litre soda (WM) that was 88 cents under President Trump and went to $1.68 under Biden is now $1. For now.
I bought a few. I’ve got plenty of bottles of water now I have several 2-litres of HFCS. Oops.
A couple weeks ago grabbed 6 still in the heavy shrink wrap. Good heavens that was heavy to carry. Put it on the scale it weighed 28.8 pounds. I checked it several times.
I’m gonna have to try again, LOL.
OK I just checked again. 28.8 lbs.
And yes the scales are correct on my weight (oops)

It’s my understanding that it’s a struggle to make a profit in grocery store business and it’s one of businesses with smallest profit margin relatively speaking
Walmart depends on SNAP. By far the biggest recipient of the largess of the USA taxpayer, bar none.
Its those dirty rotten Juice in our food system. Not the Bodegas unless they side with Trump.
