Okinawa ire at being left in dark on sex crimes by U.S. servicemen
The Asahi Shimbun ^ | 06 29 2024 | Staff

Howls of outrage erupted here over a second suspected sex crime involving a U.S. serviceman that was initially kept under wraps by the central government.

“It is absolutely unforgivable that such an inhumane and despicable crime has again come to light immediately after we learned that a young girl was abducted and assaulted,” Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki told reporters on June 28.

Okinawa prefectural police said earlier in the day that Jamel Clayton, a 21-year-old U.S. Marine lance corporal, was arrested in May on suspicion of injuring a woman during an attempted rape. The suspect was indicted in June.

Three days earlier, investigative sources said Brennon R.E. Washington, a 25-year-old U.S. airman, was indicted in March on suspicion of abducting and sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 in Okinawa Prefecture in December.

Both cases came to light after they were reported by local media outlets. The central government had not disclosed the cases to prefectural authorities.

They shoulda thought of that before they bombed the harbor.

Now they get to listen to jets take off all day every day.

XD... I had a great pic of a bunch of C-17s flying over a German war memorial one time.

The majority of the rapes and sexual assaults committed by U.S. servicemen in Japan are done by blacks, hence the U.S. media’s reticence in reporting them. It’s a huge ongoing problem, and an embarrassment to the U.S. military.

Seems like the military had problems in Okinawa since forever. Why not just restrict the military to the base and ban them from interacting with the locals?

This infuriates me. Every couple of years, the bases on Japan go into lockdown because some a$$hat tries to rape an Okinawan woman or girl. What is it with attacking Japanese school girls? That never happened in the years I was in Japan and Okinawa. Now, it seems to happen every couple of years. Japan is a very safe country except for the regions around the American bases. I have a theory about why, but it is controversial, and I don't want to go there.

Occasionally, Japanese kids would approach us to practice their English. The girls would try a few words, giggle, and runoff. Nobody ever thought those girls were flirting; for God's sake, they were kids. The boys occasionally hung out with us, and we bought snacks and drinks and taught them the wrong English words. Okay, that was wrong, but funny.

Before COVID, I went back to visit friends and old haunts. As a retiree, I could have stayed on the base. I chose an Airbnb instead. For two reasons, my friends are Japanese, and the base had just come off a curfew because some idiot tried to rape a Japanese schoolgirl. I spoke to a retiree who thought it was cool to be staying on the base like back in the day. I worked on the base, but I never stayed on the base. Anyway, I am sure it was not so cool after they locked the base down for 24 hours and then imposed a curfew. There was a fight between a Japanese and a Marine at a bar. During the lockdown, if you were off the base sightseeing, you paid hell getting back on. Once you get back on, you cannot leave.

Okinawa? Rape? There were willing girls everywhere when I was stationed there! Old women, even a man made up asking soldiers “You want me?”
MA-1A ALLEY! Hey GI! 5 dollar short time. ten dollar all night!
And the AFRTS Radio! Here are your numbers for today! 18, 72, 25. 67. (girls had number tags. If the number was broadcast she had banged out for VD!
When a typhoo headed for Guam all the aircraft were sent to Okinawa along with the ground crews. As there were no available women on Guam they hit Koza City like a whirlwind! Then back to Guam. Two weeks later we were sent to Guam. As I turned in my medical records I had to walk past a long L-O-N-G line of sad faced airmen who had contacted VD at Koza City.

Wen were you there ? 1947 ? Okinawa was impoverished for many years after the war . Tokyo , Osaka and its environs first to be rebuilt .

It's even worse in the US military. Blacks target woman soldiers and it is rarely reported on. Many senior NCO’s take advantage of naive recruits and get away with it .

” Blacks target woman soldiers “

I’m shocked I tell you !

My wife is 61 and when she went out shopping or to meet friends in Okinawa she was hit on a couple of times by black servicemen in their 20’s or 30’s . At least that is how old she said they appeared .
