Julian Assange is 'no hero': America's former head of intelligence says what Wikileaks founder did was wrong and illegal and 'assets' in Afghanistan will have died because of his actions

The former head of US intelligence slammed the celebrations surrounding the release of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange this week and called the Australian 'no hero.'

Speaking on BBC Radio 4's Today show, James Clapper, who served as head of the intelligence community under former President Barack Obama, called Assange's actions wrong and illegal.

Clapper went on to say that US assets in Afghanistan were likely killed due to Wikileaks revealing their identities in government documents.

Clapper attacking Assange makes Assange more a hero in my eye's. Clapper has lied so much his nose is as measured in miles not inches.

I’d like to hear about this from a reliable source. Such as someone who didn’t participate in a coup.

Clapper should be on death row.

As opposed to what Biden did to Afghanistan, leaving billions in war fighting and letting our military get killed?

And how many “assets” have died because of Clapper?

Generally I think he has hurt the US more than helped it but I’ll reserve judgement on Assange until he spills the beans on what he knows or doesn’t know about Seth Rich.

Oh. James Clapper. Of course he would say that. His disapprobation is a good recommendation.

Came here to say exactly this. Bears repeating.

That damage is why Trump refused to let Assange go. It’s also why Biden gave him a pass. Both were true to their instincts. Trump puts the nation’s enemies in a box, whereas Biden gives them free rein.

Gee, you mean like what happened when Biden pulled out of Afghanistan in a haphazard fashion. Can we charge Biden? Because we know he jeopardized many military personnel, along with support personnel. Do you have proof that Assange’s actions killed assets with his release? If so, name those victims, and bring the receipts that they died as direct result of the WikiLeaks expose.

More "assets" were killed, I'd wager, by Biden's Afghan surrender.

Full Julian Assange, Wikileaks, Plea Agreement Released

June 26, 2024 | Sundance | 42 Comments

Julian Assange, his lawyers and the Wikileaks organization will be holding a press conference in Australia at 7:30am Eastern USA time.

Mr Assange walked free from a court in the US Pacific Island territory of Saipan, after pleading guilty to violating US espionage law, in a deal that will see him return home to Australia.  Assange made no statement when he left the federal court.

A lot of people have optimistic hopes for Julian Assange and/or the Wikileaks organization to deliver information that will further evidence and outline the corrupt nature of the colluding governments who targeted him.  However, when you consider the current weaponized intents of the U.S. government, you would be wise to remember no plea agreement will be detrimental to their interests.

[SEE PLEA DEAL HERE]

Because it is likely to be a subject of interest in the days, weeks and months that will follow.  The link to the 23-page plea agreement is above.  I would strongly urge everyone to spend a few minutes reviewing it to understand the highly restrictive parameters within it.

Despite the public face of Assange’s lawyers and Wikileaks in general, the plea agreement severely puts limits on the ability of Wikileaks to continue their operations.

It should be noted that part of the agreement outlines how Wikileaks will give the USA any/all unpublished information, or destroy all unpublished information that Wikileaks possesses, that is not limited to USA interests, classified information or national security.

In essence, any/all information in the care/custody of Wikileaks that has not been published is no longer available for Wikileaks to use.  This would presumably include documents, messages, videos, audio recordings and any “information” in the possession of the Wikileaks organization.

[SOURCE]

I would strongly temper all expectations.  Do not expect Julian Assange or any member of his organization to suddenly begin revealing information that has previously been withheld.

Perhaps that explains the exit.

The moment Julian Assange left Saipan court a free man

Clapper should be spending his retirement in a jail cell for all the lying and perjury he’s committed.

Wikileaks helped destroy Hillary in 2016. Pizza gate, all the filth, Hillary one public and a private position, all came from Wikileaks. Vault 7 and the umbrage program, where we collected tools and techniques to blame cyber attacks on anyone we pleased…. Also Wikileaks.

Assange paid a huge price to expose the deep corruption in DC. He’s a hero. Clapper is a straight up liar.
