The New York Post editorial board on Monday published an extremely curious piece advocating that former President Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president who will formally accept the party’s nomination in July at the Republican National Convention (RNC), make certain picks for his running mate and avoid others.
The Post, which News Corporation’s Rupert Murdoch controls, went all in for North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R), with Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) offered up as a backup option, and went all in against Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), who has been emerging in recent weeks as a top contender. This comes from the same Murdoch empire that continues to employ and promote former House Speaker Paul Ryan, who, on June 11, went on another of Murdoch’s properties, the Fox News Channel, to bash Trump as “unfit for office.” So, anyone can be excused for thinking the New York Post‘s “advice” for Trump comes off a little bit — oh, what’s the right word? — sanctimonious.
The Post’s editorial board published this headline on Monday night: “Gov. Doug Burgum is Trump’s best choice for VP, but Sen. Marco Rubio’s a strong runner-up.”
The arguments for Burgum and Rubio are similar to what others have argued for, but the arguments against Vance are particularly disturbing and just plain wrong. And coming from the very same New York Post editorial board that has spent the past several years across several editorials arguing that Trump is the past and needs to be gotten rid of, it raises serious questions about the actual motivations of the newspaper and the people who control it.

Vance is a big gov’t shill pushing for a federalminimum wage increase
I haven't been sure about Vance, but after this glowing recommendation by Rupert I am convinced he should be Trump's VP.
I agreed
Scott from SC has been very loyal to Trump. I think he’d help with votes, too. It is a tough choice as others are very qualified.
I, too, like Ben Carson. But, there is very little evidence that he has the mettle to do battle with the lefturds as will be necessary in the next DJT administration.
I think Vance is a charlatan, a carpet bagger with cash.
I do like Doug Burgum, but have the same trepidations as with Carson.
No to Rubio; he’s far too ‘deep state’ for my liking.
I believe Trump needs a doberman; someone who can chew up the leftists and toe the MAGA line.
I like Gen Kelley, but I’m not sure he can be counted on to defend the MAGA philosophy. I do think he would bring some needed credibility with the US Military; until DJT fires the wokesters and resets the whole shebang.
I like Michael Flynn, but he may bring too much baggage.
Elise Stefanik might be worth a look, but I don’t think she brings the ‘junkyard dog’ persona that will likely be needed.
Other than that dumbass vote to certify the 2020 election, I could support Tim Scott. But, I don’t see him as a reliable MAGA supporter, at this point.
I do think DJT needs a fighter who has great experience with the deep state slime...
So, let’s take a look at Mike Pompeo.
Duh typing and making dinner never works 😀
Pompeo is Deep State and Trump will not pick him again.
“Elise Stefanik is great and Trump’s only path to victory.“
I agree. Funny how these New Yorkers don’t want a Jewish female pit bull VP from NY.
I think they’re afraid of her.
She chewed up 3 university presidents and spit them out. She got Lizard Cheney’s job, says Pelosi is responsible for J6, spoke in Israel at Knesset after Oct 7 and knows all the deep staters in DC.
I don’t think he needs a noon-white candidate.
My choice is J.D. Vance, who grew up in abject poverty, raised by his grandmother because his mother was never there for him. He wrote a book about it, “Hillbilly Elegy,” a bestseller even read by people sitting next to me in hospital waiting room. That’s a huge difference from billionaire Trump, saying eloquently that the Repubs are not the party of the rich.
J.D. met his wife in law school. She or her parents came from India, and JD’s kids are adorable, and not quite white, which will definitely appeal to some undecided voters who hope for Carson. Carson is very smart and nice but doesn’t have the speaking skills or dynamonism that Trump and Vance have.
JD Vance is exactly who I hope he picks. The Deep State would be afraid of Vance even more than Trump. Which would act as an effective life insurance policy for Trump to make sure the CIA doesn’t JFK him.
I agree.
And while not his fault, a candidate’s looks are as important as anything else in presidential politics.
And why might that be?
Paul Ryan?
I liked Matt Boyle when I was a morning commuter, but I don't listen to him now. Still, I respect his opinion about the rest of the things that we're not paying attention to.
I've read stories in the past about how editorial boards are separate from the rank-and-file reporters who write the daily stories. The contrast between the Post's front page and the editorial page suggests that a Bigfoot from the C-suite is stepping on the editorial page.
maybe the New York Post should sit out the veepstakes and let the actual adults in the Republican Party have this debate — not the petulant anti-Trump children — and let Trump make up his own mind on who his running mate is going to be.
Consider this a marker... a *ping* for future reference.
We'll see how strident the Post's editorial board gets as the election season progresses.

The Murdochs running the show now are extremist liberals. No way anyone should listen to them.
Since the Satanists are against Vance, he’s the best one of the supposed crop.
“I hope for Ben Carson.”
I like him best, too. I’m not sure he is knowledgeable on all the facets of world politics and affairs.
When it comes to fighters, Elise would be pretty good.
Vance would be my top choice for 2028.
I am worried about losing him in the Senate, though, if he is chosen as VP.
“I hope he picks Sarah Sanders”
If she doesn’t already have plans in motion to prosecute the Clintons for their crimes while in AR, then she’s useless.
We need to fight lawfare with lawfare, and she has a treasure trove of crimes there just for the picking.
Wasn’t there some negative scuttlebutt a couple years ago about some book Vance wrote — that he isn’t honest about his past or something?
At least you have an excuse, I see that I typed change instead if chance when talking about DJT. Thanks goodness we all have the out of being human. 🤣
