Nearly 50 percent of parents with children under 18 take on debt for Disney trips with in-park food and beverages the biggest drain on the family vacation budget, a survey shows.

Financial website Lending Tree surveyed Americans about how vacationing at Disney World impacts their finances.

It found some 24 percent of all Disney-goers have accrued debt during their trips, along with 45 percent of parents with children under the age of 18.

The average amount of debt for those parents was $1,983, LendingTree said.

We have been the horrible parents and skipped Disney trips for the last 4+ years. Instead opted to visit Mt Rushmore, Custer St Park, Outer Banks, Mackinaw Island, a dozen other smaller state parks and landmarks, and enroll our daughter in a Christian private school. Shame on us for spending our money that way instead of using it on Disney. /sarc

This has got to be the dumbest thing I’ve read in a while. Why would any sane person go into debt (especially with the interest that credit cards charge) for a vacation?

Unless they get new management, which I doubt will ever happen.

I don't think that getting new management would be sufficient.

There are tens of thousands of far-left wing employees that are embedded in every division of Disney. Most would have to be fired or they would continually do whatever they want regardless of what the new management wants or tells them to do. It would be like Trump's first term, when embedded deep state federal employees worked tirelessly to stab him in the back every chance they got.

IMHO, the only way to save any of Disney would be to liquidate it and sell its assets to companies that are in business to make a profit and not to groom children, destroy the country, or remake it into the woke utopia of liberals' fantasies.

I spent many summer days at Idlewild. I liked the old swimming pool on the island before it became the Soak Zone.

A trip to Disney for 4-5 days versus 6 months of college. Spend the money on ultralight hiking gear and go backpacking and hike the Application Trail - you’ll still have money left over after 4-5 months;)

Right. I never charge anything I don’t need to.

I lived with my stone age kitchen for 13 years until I saved enough to do it over and pay cash for the work and everythig
