A member of the U.S. Secret Service was robbed at gunpoint Saturday night in California during President Joe Biden's high-profile fundraising swing.
Scripps News reported Monday that officers from the Tustin Police Department responded to a call and found that the victim was a member of the Secret Service who had fired off his own gun during the robbery.
It is unclear if the perpetrator was injured and by Monday afternoon the Tustin, California Police Department said it was still investigating the incident.
Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi confirmed to Scripps that a member of the U.S. Secret Service was the victim in the robbery.
'The employee discharged their service weapon during the incident but unknown if the assailants were struck,' Guglielmi said.
'We are thankful that the employee did not sustain any injuries,' he added.
Some of the Secret Service official's belongings have since been found.
The robber escaped in a silver Infiniti, with Tustin police including a photograph of the vehicle, while calling on members of the public to provide tips.
It wasn't immediately clear if the Secret Service employee had been tasked with protecting Biden on the Los Angeles trip.
Biden returned to his hotel Saturday shortly before 9 p.m.
Tustin is located in nearby Orange County, California - and police responded to the call at 9:36 p.m.

Really, there's no safe places anymore. But if you live in a red state in a rural area with a decent sheriff and you have friendly neighbors, you can contain the damage.
Never found out how many showed up for this.
Schaudenfraude.
My thoughts exactly....and if so good that s/he missed.
Iirc, he has it
Maybe his “companion for the evening” robbed him and stole the car.
Why are they wasting taxpayer dollars trying to find this person? WHO CARES, All personal crimes against government employee’s in California should be LEGAL. They don’t give a damn about us, so why should I care?
Wasn’t for me; fell in love with Texas 30 years ago, finally was freed up to do it and the wife, son and I up and left. Never looked back.
It is weird, but hubby and I did this 10+ years ago, as empty nesters. We joke that we only know a dozen people in Indiana, our neighbors, and some folks at church. The truth is we probably know maybe 50 people now.
It can be done, but you have to go out of your comfort zone.
If you found the right place for you, I’m sure there are FReepers who’d be able to introduce you to lots of people.

Secret Service has been a sad joke since Clinton. He recruited a bunch without even doing any background checks, drug tests etc, because his administration was so chaotic when he came into office. Shortly after 9/11 one of Clinton’s hires was found traveling to Bush’s Texas retreat unauthorized, with a loaded gun and a book on Islam in his possession. Of course that event dropped quickly down the memory hole and was never reported again.
Secret Service helped the FBI with the Mara Lago raid.
Female AA hire.
Glad Trump has his own security, too.
There it is.
Try and find original florida crackers to hangout with.
Really a great lil flick.
That “writer,” Nikki Schwab should be fired and then sent back to school.
The piece is unreadable.
Take her typewriter away, forever!
YUK!
Love those movies
Channel surfing one night I came across “Red 2” - it looked good - it IS good - loved it - finally saw “Red” not long after that.
Kordeski trained you?
Yeah
I trained Kordeski
I know you're joking, and I see the humor in it, but it says "unknown if the assailants were struck." That means the SS agent doesn't know where his round went. Not good.
