The author's point is that Ukraine does not, and will not have the manpower to continue the war.

So the choices are: 1. NATO/US troops on the ground in direct conflict with Russia...or... 2. Make a deal that preserves the Ukrainian state.

Binary.

They want as many of us dead as possible.

Wars are a really efficient way to do that.

No.

Ukraine’s defense is up to Ukrainians.

I’ll join street protests against sending American troops.

Any US politician that advocates for US troops in Ukraine will be crucified by everyone.

Agree - the idea of actually ‘winning’ has very quietly slipped away from the discussion. Now I suspect that the Neocons are running Focus Groups to try to figure out if ending the war if it means Trump wins in November is preferable to World War 3, at least to US voters.

I think a third option is to send our Zeepers. Most have supported this war since The Zelensky and NATO started it.

Agreed.

As to FR and comments on the Ukraine-Russia over time, one finds something....

Fascinating to observe that a thread begun by you, Mariner, "Posted on 2/28/2022," continues to be active as of today with more than six thousand comments.

It comes down to the binary -- "1. NATO/US troops on the ground in direct conflict with Russia...or... 2. Make a deal that preserves the Ukrainian state."

We could send Ukraine about 2500 illegal aliens per day. Ukraine could offer them citizenship for two years of military service.

I offer a third choice, we can have 25 thousand American troops on the ground in less than 10 days. They will consist of semi-volunteers from BLM, Antifa and our most deadly Rainbow Division of dancing queens. It will be a mandatory 10 year deployment in keeping with Biden's new 10 year war support commitment.

Each "volunteer" will be required to bring their own environmentally friendly electric Moped (or equivalent form of transportation). Umbrellas, facemasks and vaccinations will be furnished by the federal government.

Faced with this new threat the Russians will have no choice but flee in abject terror.

We need to get out of NATO and let the nations that remain know that all arms sales to them will be cash only. Then they can either strengthen themselves and survive or learn Russian. A binary choice for the Euro-grifters.

Third option - import mercenaries. Recruit in 4th world hell holes. Maybe the Azovs could recruit Muslim militants that would find common ground on an issue. If the money was right, they could fill the ranks. And it wouldn’t take much to be right in some parts of the world.

Why would it give US pressure to make up for some country thousands of miles away, under no legal binding treaty with the US? That’s ludicrous, anyone told they will be drafted for that war and go to a country that few know the language, has a history of hating the US when it was openly communist and still has commie leanings. If told they must go fight for the ukes should jut laugh in whoevers face it is. There is no NATO deal that if a nato country goes and joins attacks that other nato countries must join in. NATO was a defense treaty, attacking is the opposite of defense. With this stupidity inbound, the US needs to pull out of NATO and the UN, yep need to become isolationist again because these supposed ‘on our side’ are just after the usual, US money and US bodies to throw into their worthless battles to die instead of their men. Who here cares if the ukes are russian (like they used to be) or different? The russkies are just going to play dominoes with the other old soviet states. So what? Was that way for decades, not getting pulled into another ‘they will keep taking more’ sob story like the one they used in the Vietnam war is more important. I don’t think the gen-Z and newbie alphas will go for it, their parents sure won’t.
