Attorney General Merrick Garland this week called for “attacks” against the Justice Department to stop, in a rare op-ed a day before the House voted to hold him in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a congressional subpoena.
Garland said in the piece, which appeared in the Washington Post on Tuesday, that in recent weeks, there have been an “escalation of attacks that go far beyond public scrutiny, criticism, and legitimate and necessary oversight of our work,” and claimed that the attacks are “baseless, personal and dangerous.”
He suggested the attacks were coming from Trump supporters, in response to the recent trial of former President Donald Trump, as well as several other ongoing federal and local government cases against him.

Reply to Meritless G. - follow the law in a non-partisan, non-stalinistic manner and it will stop.
He’s doing major damage to the country as it is...imagine if he had made it to the Supreme Court!
Bull$}{!T, LIES, LIES, AND MORE LIES, CORRUPTION BY TREASONOUS PEOPLE, FRAUDULENT CHARGES...
Freedom of speech.
Fight to keep it.
Your Omega Glory reference made me chuckle!
We the People, indeed!
They will stop, sir, when your sorry ass vacates that office.
Why does he think the Department of Justice should be exempt from criticism?! Scratch a liberal and you will always find a tyrant.
As long as this ass clown is there the DoJ deserves zero respect.
They can hide evidence, they can tamper with evidence, they can withold evidence under the excuse of "an ongoing investigation" for years until that statute of limitations has passed or the country has moved on. They can curb your freedom of speech and then use word-smithing to pretend that they did not actually force a platform to delete an opinion. They can take away your right to a speedy trial by throwing you into the gulag and let you rot for years. They can use lawfare to create cases without substance and then bankrupt you and your family through the lengthy and expensive process.
These DOJ people are sooo...professional, and ethical and y'all need to stop and just respect and admire them.
Just nobody goes to jail, that is for the peasants.
So...Congresscritters have no free speech rights if the AG doesn’t like their speech?
Garland is getting scared of what’s coming at him. Too many whistle-blowers coming forward.
How could he not have known about about Jack Smith’s past unethical, corrupt, politicized past involvement in prosecutions of Republicans.
Nullify the Bill of Rights.
AG Garland has the ability to cause, allow or prevent every prosecution in the US, which the DOJ has wielded—by very much evidence—politically, contrary to his oath and DOJ policy. Through DOJ acts of omission and commission, several unjust lawfare prosecutions have been allowed to play out (e.g., Eastman, J6 tourists, and Bannon).
Congress lawfully wields oversight of the DOJ.
Garland’s jealous of Congress’ oversight of him and the DOJ, attempting unconstitutionally to resist Congressional oversight and draw evermore power unto his office and himself. —FAIL!
Congress has rightly called Garland to task regarding his obstruction of a Congressional impeachment investigation. WeThePeople can see what he’s done. It’s no small matter, and there’s plenty of evidence that it’s true. The House (particularly) speaks as representatives of the people while Garland has shown he’s acting at the Biden Administration’s behest and likely coordinating with it.
Garland now claims presidential immunity, even though that defense was rejected in the cases of Bannon and Eastman. I gather we’ll see it upheld for the Dem, as it was for Eric Holder.
Garland doubtless has been assured that no crime he may commit will “bite him.” Joe’s signature is already dry on his pardon.
Here is another attack for you meritless Garland. May you and the DOJ rot in Hades!
They aren’t “attacks”. They are merely accurate descriptions of this criminal group. I guess if you are a tyrant any disagreeable perspective would be seen as “attacks”.
Innocent until proven guilty.
That is what our legal system is supposed to be based on.
It doesn’t matter what people call the prosecutor or how they question a case... because a defendant is assumed innocent from the start.
People have rights, government doesn’t.
Government has no right to due process.
Nor an unbiased jury.
It has no right to remain silent.
Government has no right to assume they (prosecution, court) are innocent.
Government only has responsibilities.
Only way the system is undermined is when things are flipped around; when government makes people prove their innocence.
Criticism of the Justice Department is just fine. If you’ve seen them up close, you’ll know they’re just human.
