Long, Tall Sally--Little Richard (1956)
A very different take. You can hear Little Richard on the juke box at the malt shop.

Howdy, Kathy.
You made it to the weekend!
Not too bad a day up there. Your skies look like mine did earlier in the week - a mix of clouds and sunshine.
And windy.

It was on AM and came through to us very well. Could only listen during the day on the rare days when I didn’t have to go on a patrol. Next week is our reunion. Not many of us left.

Here's Van McCoy, from Columbia Hights in Washington, DC, long before he got the disco craze going with "The Hustle":
The Birdland--The Starlighters (1958)
All of the boss Birdlanders Birdland across the floor.
Here comes Short Fat Fannie, Birdlanding through the door.
Here comes Long Tall Sally, man, she is no square.
Birdlanding with Skinny Minnie. They're Birdlanding everywhere.
And they're jamming in the kitchen, really swinging in the basement,
Going up and down and Birdlanding around and around.
Here comes Dede Dinah, Birdlanding on the stage.
Oh, she's a boss Birdlander, and you know what I mean.
Here comes Dizzy Lizzie, Birdlanding with a cat named Joe.
The others in the corner shouting, "go, Lizzie! Go! Go! Go!"
And they're jamming in the kitchen, really swinging in the basement,
Going up and down and Birdlanding around and around.
Dance! Dance! Dance!
Come on, baby, dance!

The #1 song on June 6, 1944. Music has certainly changed since.
