Yep. All I heard from the media and other economic ignoramuses before Newsom signed the order was about how much better the lives of fast food workers was going to be - how this would allow them to enter the middle class, etc. It was touted all over the news, including interviews with life-long fast food workers, how happy they were, how long they'd fought for "justice" and "equality" and what the extra money was going to do for them.

What it did for them was put them out of a job.

Not one word from REAL economist who easily understood foresaw the consequences of government mandates paying workers far beyond their abilities and skills.

If only those restaurants were not so greedy, they would have remained in business. /s/s/s/s/s/s/s

Just figur the incrase on the prices of everything going up for the public is to pay for the wages of ‘students and entry level positions...while you pay off their college debt as well.

I had a ‘brief’ argument last night about the economy, for which I was handed an emotional reaction to my citation that “you can’t just print 3 trillion dollars and not expect a negative result” to support my assertion that a recession IS VERY WELL LOOMING. I was then lambasted for shutting down (refusing to engage an emotional reaction when logic was the trigger).

As I’ve stated prior, there’s no debating with a leftist.

It’s a total waste of time. And yeah, they JUST DON’T GET IT.

They never will, even after the door smacks them on the backside as their new reality hits them like a ton of bricks.

No, “It’s the fault of MAGA.” Every time. Riiiiiiight. /s

Ironically, blacks seem to be smarter than lefty whites (emphasis on ‘seem’). Whooda thunk? /s

No, they’ve left a trail of destruction no amount of gaslighting can hide. But they’ll NEVER admit it.

They must be put down. They are toxic to other adults and worse: They victimize their own children (and others’).

Q: What’s the new minimum wage?
A: $20.00/hr.

Q: What were you earning before that?
A: $15.00/hr.

Q: What are you earning now?
A: Nothing, I got laid off.

I was in California this week for work. We tried to order three basic pizza’s. $108.00

That’s a hard no. We sent someone for fast food instead.

It’s all about productivity. A burger flipper must generate enough revenue from their work to pay their $20 per hour wage and their share of the production costs to make this work. How many burgers can they produce per hour on average and at what price? It assumes that all the burgers they make get sold, but if the price of the burger goes up to make up their limited production fewer burgers get sold (Law of Demand). Add to this economic mess inflation increases in the cost of raw food. It is little wonder fast food places are closing their doors and laying off workers. The new paradigm may well be fully automated burger joints with few if any workers churning out burgers with little labor cost. Politicians obviously have no grasp of basic economics.

Thank you for that wonderful explanation.

My local paper interviewed a Wendy’s owner - owned a number of outlets - he said automation is being implemented immediately instead of over two years, otherwise he’s out of business. Fast Food joints are also going to use AI for the drive-thrus.

I always see the salaries of the CEOs quoted in the media and the difference in pay between the CEO and an average burger flipper - as if their skills and abilities were on par.

The analogy by economic ignoramuses is always if the CEOs are making so many millions, then they can pay the workers better.

LOL, as I keep reminding him - he’s 77 and going out for breakfast has been such a part of his life for so long that he keeps on doing it, despite the steep increases in price - even though he complains about it bitterly.

My family, and everyone else I know around here, go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner only rarely now if ever - and save going out for very special occasions because of the steep price.

The lunch special at the restaurant chain where I’ve meet former colleagues for years has gone from $7.95 to over $17.00.

Work the logic. Big Government leftists want ALL people dependent upon them for sustenance. Hence, they make the economy such that more people are unemployed and eventually end up on welfare. Much easier to control the populace when they have no other choices. So, it’s not just that they’re stupid. They’re doing it intentionally. It’s the evil that makes them appear stupid. Most folks that are not leftists can’t even conceive of such stupidity (evil). That’s our main handicap and Achilles heel and that’s why they’re winning. Because our side can’t or won’t recognize that they are indeed evil (not just stupid).

My So Cal town is chock-full of closed businesses, empty for two years, with nothing moving in

It seems "Your Name Here" has vast real estate holdings.
