Trump's Popularity in Battleground States Keeps Climbing Following New York City Conviction
Townhall ^ | 06/06/2024 | Sarah Arnold

Former President Donald Trump’s conviction just might have been the missing key in his securing the 2024 election against President Joe Biden.

According to a new Quinnipiac University Georgia poll, Trump holds an advantage over Biden (49 - 44 percent) in a head-to-head matchup in the crucial battleground state.

Despite the unprecedented move, the conviction against Trump seems to working in his favor— a stark contrast from what the Democratic Party was hoping for when bringing politically motivated charges against him.

The survey also revealed that in a six-way hypothetical race that includes other candidates, Trump still leads with 43 percent of the support, while Biden has only 37 percent. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. got eight percent of the support, while Independent candidate Cornel West received three percent.

“Trump takes a narrow lead in the head-to-head horse race against Biden. Put four other 'horses' on the track, including the new Libertarian candidate, and he inches further ahead,” Quinnipiac University Polling Analyst Tim Malloy said.

The poll asked respondents if Trump’s conviction has any influence on who they will vote for in November. Among Republicans, only 10 percent agree with the verdict while 86 percent disagree.

However, among Democrats, 96 percent agree with the verdict, while one percent disagree. 52 percent of Independents agree with the verdict, while 42 percent disagree.

It is important to note that Biden won Georgia in 2020.

Respondents were asked if Trump’s guilty verdict changed the way they view the 45th president. Twenty-three percent of voters said that it makes them more likely to vote for Trump in November, while 54 percent said it doesn’t impact their choice of candidates.

Among Independents, only 18 percent of responses said it makes them less likely to vote for him.

“In a key state that went for Biden in 2020, half of voters agree with the guilty verdict that made Trump the first president to be convicted of a felony, but Trump still has the advantage in the 2024 race,” Malloy continued.

Respondents were also asked who they would rather handle major issues that the U.S. is facing, Trump or Biden, on matters such as the Ukraine war, the Israel-Hamas war, and immigration. All of which indicated that they trust Trump more on the issues.

  • Fifty-three percent believe Trump would do a better job at handling the Israel-Hamas war.
  • Fifty-four percent say Trump chose Trump to handle Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
  • Fifty-six percent believe Trump is more competent to handle illegal immigration, and 58 percent trust the former president with the economy.

Six Way race?

I know of Trump, Biden, RFK Jr and Cornell West. Who are the other two?

I admit I am a little surprised...did’t they realize that Donald Trump was responsible for making New York great?

What a bunch of Yahoos.

The Libertarian is some DEI fag pothead named Chase who turns off half of the Libertarian Party faithful.

Jill Steyn is still around for the Greens.

The Libertarians are typically on most state ballots, the Greens and Constitution Party, far fewer. RFK Jr. has the resources to be on most ballots if he would come up with a coherent ballot strategy. I don’t expect to see Cornell West on many ballots.

Not very useful data.

What would be useful is a quote of that poll before and after. Don’t ask people if it affects their vote. Just ask who they will vote for and do the survey exactly the same way as the previous survey.

Not very useful data.

It does put the lie to earlier polling stating that huge numbers of people would not vote for a "convicted felon".

Does anyone Know if support for 3rd-party candidates is overstated in polls, compared to actual election results?

The color red has historically been associated with the left (communism. socialism, etc.).

Republicans always accept the terminology of the left.

I remember when an elections analyst on one of the networks changed the party colors on the election board. He used the color red for Republicans and blue for Democrat. It was the first time that Republicans had been associated with the color red. It’s been that way ever since.

The Presidential race is now tied in Virginia. I believe Biden “won” the state by about ten points in 2020.

The key is going to be blocking the ballot and tabulation fraud. I hope Laura Trump has a better plan than that used by Ronna McDaniel.

If even Quinnipiac says he’s got a 5 point lead, that means he’s got about a 10 point lead - well beyond the margin of fraud.

Biden won Georgia in 2020.

It's true because Ruby Freeman got a medal for helping out.

Minorities who feel persecuted by the government identify with what is happening to Trump which is why they are shifting support to him.

Yes, that’s how I always remembered it in the 70’s and 80’s. Republicans were blue and Democrats were red. So I did a little digging to see if I was remembering correctly.

I went back and found that CBS was the first network to introduce color coded electoral maps for their election coverage. They did so in 1972 and used the Rep=blue Dem=red standard. In 1976 the other two networks followed CBS’s lead and began using color coded maps as well, with NBC conforming to CBS’s standard of Rep=blue and Dem=red while ABC used Rep=yellow and Dem=blue..

ABC switched to Rep=red Dem=blue in 1980.

CBS continued using Rep=blue Dem=red until 1984 when they switched Rep=red Dem=blue.

NBC stuck with Rep=blue Dem=red a little while longer until they joined the other two networks in using Rep=red Dem=blue in 1996.

Notice how polsters ( all leftist partisans IMO ) never put Trump at 50% or above. It is always 49%. At 50%+ it is no longer a horse race.

OTH they dont hesitate to put democrats above 50% when it is tight...

Virginia flies under the radar but it is very corrupt state when it comes to elections. 20 years ago it was solid Red. Demographics have changed a lot but NOT A 20 point swing in that amount of time! VA is the swamp’s front yard. MD is the swamp’s backyard.

It doesn’t matter as long as the democrats have their STEAL in place.
Democrat cities hold back and count(steal) and steal until they have tilted the national election and it is just not right.
Courts hell even the supreme have failed us for reasons of corruption and or fear.
A different court, that of true public opinion need be felt from.

The color red has historically been associated with the left (communism. socialism, etc.).

The Republican party should consider changing their color association given their propensity to sit on their hands and allow all kinds of atrocities to beset our once great again country in its fall to its current state.
Maybe yellow is more befitting.
