‘None of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not represent a threat to the region,’ the communist regime said.
Russian warships will be deployed to the Caribbean Sea next week, the Cuban foreign ministry confirmed on Thursday.
The four Russian navy ships do not carry any nuclear weapons and will not present a threat to the region, Cuba’s foreign ministry said in a statement, confirming reports that cited unnamed U.S. officials.
“This visit corresponds to the historical friendly relations between Cuba and the Russian Federation and strictly adheres to the international regulations,” the communist country’s statement added, according to a translation. “None of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not represent a threat to the region.” sailors make visits to various Cuban government officials, places of “historical and cultural interest,” and other “activities.”
Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministry have not issued public comments on the forthcoming visit.
The announcement out of Cuba comes one day after an unnamed U.S. official told reporters from several media outlets that Russia had plans to send combat vessels into the Caribbean region, including to its allies Cuba and Venezuela, to conduct naval exercises.
Honestly..
there have neen russian navy ships (subs) WITH NUKES. Sitting under the water outside of the major US sites of strategic interest 40 years straight.
Just like there have been US subs sitting offshore from potential nuclear strike sites in Russia for those same 40 +/-years.
GET A GRIP PEOPLE. WAKE UP.
Proxy Wars have consequences.
IMHO, Biden (actually the 2020 Cabal) is doing everything he/they can to escalate the Ukraine problem to fire up Russia even going nuclear so US voters “won’t want to change horses in mid-stream” in the 2024 election run up.
You read it here first. ;-)
I thought about posting the same thing; however, reconsidered as Democrats are frequently known to exercise their voting rights post mortem.
Russia’s navy is short on spare parts, short on funds, short on trained sailors (many have been sent to Ukraine), and I say let them go.
A silly show-the-flag exercise during what is now a major war for Russia is the perfect use for their precious resources.
It’ll also clear some of their ships out of the Baltic. Now the trick will be keeping them out with pesky environmental inspections and etc.
Did they sail through the NATO lake that is the Baltic or the NATO controlled Bosphorus and Gibraltar straight, or around the Horn of Africa or Magellan passage around South America from Vladivostok through the Tsushima straight controlled by US and Japan.
The Russian navy is useless.
Russian intelligence ships used to monitor my Guard unit from the Gulf of Mexico.
DOD said they were puzzled by the pattern of the ship showing up until someone tied it to our unit.
OP erred with dates.
In 1959, the United States and Turkey signed a mutual defense treaty, and the US began deploying nuclear-capable missiles in Turkey as part of its NATO commitments. The Jupiter missiles were deployed in Italy and Turkey in 1961, with the primary purpose of deterring a potential Soviet attack on Western Europe.
In a secret agreement, the US agreed to remove the Jupiter missiles from Turkey in exchange for the Soviet Union’s withdrawal of its missiles from Cuba. This agreement was reached through a series of back-channel negotiations between US Attorney General Robert Kennedy and Soviet Ambassador Anatoly Dobrynin.

Alex Jones has been saying that for a couple of years.
Tomorrow’s news today.
Don’t worry about that Russian squadron making enough trouble to start a war.
Worry about them going to sea and then making it back home again because aside from Ukraine the #1 killer of Russian sailors since WW2 is Russian ships.
Zeepers must be happy...
Of course there has been the above. I was a cold war aviation Navy sailor (75-86) and remember many times we had to go to general quarters when a Soviet sub got too close, and things were looking iffy.
We’ve been sending Ukraine everything we’ve got - even boots on the ground - to oppose Russia.
Me? We (Obama & State Dept.) put in Zelensky and ousted a Russia friendly President.
Crimea gone. East Uke? They’re Russians. Sue for peace - give the Ruskies their piece of the east, 1/2 of Crimea and go home. Save Ukraine.
I think that’d be what Trump would do. Eastern Uke is just rubble anyway. IMHO. ;-)
I hate the Uke threads - each side at each others throats while we welcome terrorists from every country in the world not to mention lots of chinese and muslims. Sigh.
You and your kooky Alex Jones nonsense ... like this -
