Russian Warships Will Be Deployed to Caribbean Next Week, Cuba Announces

‘None of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not represent a threat to the region,’ the communist regime said.

Russian warships will be deployed to the Caribbean Sea next week, the Cuban foreign ministry confirmed on Thursday.

The four Russian navy ships do not carry any nuclear weapons and will not present a threat to the region, Cuba’s foreign ministry said in a statement, confirming reports that cited unnamed U.S. officials.

“This visit corresponds to the historical friendly relations between Cuba and the Russian Federation and strictly adheres to the international regulations,” the communist country’s statement added, according to a translation. “None of the ships carry nuclear weapons, so their stopover in our country does not represent a threat to the region.” sailors make visits to various Cuban government officials, places of “historical and cultural interest,” and other “activities.”

Russia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Defense Ministry have not issued public comments on the forthcoming visit.

The announcement out of Cuba comes one day after an unnamed U.S. official told reporters from several media outlets that Russia had plans to send combat vessels into the Caribbean region, including to its allies Cuba and Venezuela, to conduct naval exercises.

The last time Russia did this, one of their ships broke down and had to be towed back home.

At least they don’t have DEI captains crashing their ships into eachother.

BTW, this is a repeat of 1967 when JFK stationed jupiter nuke missiles in Italy & Turkey. In response the USSR first sent missile tubes to Cuba then ships with missles [on the deck so they could be seen], causing JFK to send a navy blockade but eventually backing down by removing the jupiter missiles. Called the “Cuban Missile Crisis” but brought to you by the CIA.

US is now bragging about US long range weapons being used to attack russia [which the russkies know can only be operated by NATO soldiers bc too complex/training req’d].

This is a logical and predictable response to that escalation.

Not a reason to cheer.

The Moskva will not be joining the flotilla. They will be accompanied by at least 1 Fleet Tug. Other than submarines, Moscow’s brown water fleet is ancient. They haven’t built anything bigger than a frigate in 25 years, and the few frigates they’ve built would likely be considered a corvette in western navies.

Uh, JFK might have VOTED in 1967, but he didn’t do anything involving Cuba.

The Admiral Kuznetsov won’t be making the trip, either.

Oooh, you got me with a typo, a 2 not a 7.

JFK could only vote for a democrat in 1967 since he was dead by then.

And my factually accurate statement stands.

In the future, I would suggest if you have a criticism that it be substantive. You look very weak otherwise.

No but they do have drunks that steal ship parts for fun and profit.

As I recall, the U.S. military position is to neither confirm nor deny the presence of nuclear weapons on our nuclear-weapon capable ships, planes etc; does Russia not do the same?
Or are they just hedging against another Cuban Missile crisis type situation developing?

Before the election, we will have Russian missiles in Cuba again. Good job to Biden and the DC neocons.

What am I missing here? The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred in 1962. It was the Soviets that backed down due to the US Naval blockade that kept them from supplying the Cuban missile buildup. Neither country wanted a nuke war, so it was settle with behind scenes diplomatic efforts that made it look like a stalemate and both nations kept face.

Also, JFK was assassinated in 1963. How could he have ANY involvement in 1967 with Jupiter missiles?

After they developed nukes small enough for artillery delivery, you can bet there are many many more tactical nukes in more places than we'll ever know every minute of every day. The global delivery systems have a place, but for hiding in your back yard, the small tac nukes are scarier.

"Uh, JFK might have VOTED in 1967, but he didn’t do anything involving Cuba."

Who are you talking about here? JFK was involved in the Bay of Pigs and later the Cuban Missile Crisis. JFK didn't vote in 1967 because he was dead. Have you never heard of the Dallas assassination of President Kennedy? I must be missing something here. Are you talking about his brother, Robert F. Kennedy?

The Russians want to hang out at a cool Havana bar like Colin Farrell did in the Miami Vice movie. 😁
