A Democratic congressman has publicly called on Gov. Hochul to pardon former President Donald Trump after he was found guilty this week of falsifying business records — for the sake of the nation.
Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.) said a Trump conviction only helps his campaign.
“Donald Trump is a serial liar, cheater, and philanderer, a six-time declarer of corporate bankruptcy, an instigator of insurrection, and a convicted felon who thrives on portraying himself as a victim. @GovKathyHochul should pardon him for the good of the country,” Phillips declared in a X post Friday.

Exactly - any & all appeals would likely become moot, the federal courts would be unlikely to get involved at all, and the Dems would be able to shout "Trump's a convicted felon!" and "Look how magnanimous we are!" simultaneously. Great way to have their cake and eat it, too...
A pardon may may an appeal moot. Trump would be better if he reversed the verdict, rather than take a pardon.

Yep, that's my impression too. When a RAT Minnesota Rep is asking the RAT NY Governor to pardon Trump, that's pretty telling. "For the good of the country" my ass. For the good of the RAT party is the real reason.

It would be a good and smart thing to do—but the Dems have never been accused of being smart or kind. Pardon him and let him go would end a lot of problems.
