It took a very long time and the Red Army to get the Germen government to “cease to exist”. It took almost as long, the USMC and the US Navy, along with nuclear physicists, to get the Japanese government (which did not cease to exist) to submit.

But you left off the corresponding facts that the IJN was on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, enormous fighting formations of Japanese soldiers and Marines were wiped out to the last man, access to fuel and rubber products had been curtailed, and hunger was widespread in the land.
So, the Tokyo firebombings fit right in to my argument, as does the fact that while German cities were in ruins and the Red Army was storming Seelow Heights after raping its way across East Prussia, Silesia, and Pomerania, Germany's war production was at its highest level ever - It's not true that "if Eisenhower were President" that our enemies would be defeated by tomorrow morning.
The way to deal with the Houthi is to deal a debilitating blow to Iran.
