Playing In The Sand!A scene of the 2023 Fort McCoy Armed Forces Day Open House is shown May 20, 2023, at Fort McCoy, WI. The event was considered a great success by installation officials as nearly 3,000 people visited the installation to see numerous vehicle and equipment displays, interactive and information displays in tents, and much more. The day’s activities were centered on the Commemorative Area, which features the History Center; five World War II-era buildings filled with historical equipment and displays, the outdoor Equipment Park, and Veterans Memorial Plaza. Visitors were treated to sunny day and temperatures in the 70s as well. (U.S. Army Photo by Scott T. Sturkol, Public Affairs Office, Fort McCoy, WI.)
Please remember that The Canteen is here to support and entertain our troops and veterans and their families, and is family friendly.

Howdy, Kathy.
Happy Hump Day! Any sanity left?
Very calm here this week, thank goodness, and not too hot.
I was surprised to see the wet, stormy weather in TX because I’d heard things were supposed to calm down. I’m glad she missed out on the tornados and hope that remains to be the case the rest of the week.
It’s too bad she can’t shove that rain up your way. They’ve had an abundance and you need it badly.

I have been pretty damn sick for days,
stayed on the couch sleeping foe the entire holiday weekend.
I was able to talk to my specialty doctor Tuesday morning
he sent me two scripts and my wife picked them up.
Strong medicine but we both knew exactly what I needed.
After two days of doses I’m back my computer

This morning was exciting at Lake Hood. Those of us who watch the cam regularly know there's a guy up there who owns a beautiful Grumman Goose and keeps it in a hangar at Lake Hood. We enjoy it when he breaks it out for flights. He broke it out this morning.
With good reason. There's another Goose at Lake Hood. It belongs to the AK Aviation Museum and has been under restoration for a while. Today was its first flight. It's a beauty.
It was a thrill to see the two of them flying together.

Oh no....being sick is not on the agenda AT ALL!
Glad you were able to get exactly what you knew would be the most help, and that it is helping.
Keep resting and don’t overdo anything.

It’s been a rough 2 days, but we made it, barely! Everyone’s computers started slowing down early afternoon. Then when ready to send the payroll files to the bank, reports would not print. Turns out the whole company was having issues, apparently connectivity between AT&T and our servers in Denver.
They ended up having to go thru the Denver server for parts of the payroll, and the other server for the rest of the payroll. Final posting was later than usual, but everyone got paid.

Ugh! Great timing for the servers to slow down. *sigh* At least y’all were able to get everyone paid, even if it was a little late. Gotta wonder how much aspirin was consumed to get everyone through the hassles.
Time to catch your breath!

Hi Kathy!
Our weather has been very weird this year. Usually by the 1st of May I can turn my heaters off but all throughout May I've needed morning heat so it's been much cooler here than usual this year.
But we still have a lot of daily sunshine and that's why I retired here.

It was VERY cool! Those of us who have watched the cam regularly had no idea there was a second one there. It was just luck that Stone was operating the cam at the time and caught the activity. It was as big a surprise for him as it was for us.
As for the color scheme, that's apparently the US Dept. of Interior's choice. Stone posted a link in chat with the plane's history.
