Libertarians don't understand human nature or culture. But they're right on many things.

Even by economic calculations, however, life has been better.

The problem is between Libertarianism and libertarianism. Many of the ideas are just great, but as a party, they brought in the crazies and are pushing an agenda that as votes show, reflects 2-3% of the population. Small l libertarianism problem aligns with most Americans on one topic or another.

Real libertarians, the ones that believe in letting you live your life as opposed to the fake ones who still want socialism when how they live their life goes wrong, get wrong is that there are limits to the philosophy of letting people live their lives. We are still subject to morality and natural consequences.

Libertarians may be correct in their small government political views, but where they jump the shark is their social, cultural and moral views.

This places them on the same footing as Democrats.

Isn't it amazing how many people go scrounging for pebbles the instant anyone says, "OOOH! OOOh! There's a Libertarian! LET'S GO STONE HIM!

I’ve always said libertarianism sounds good on paper.

I’m fundamentally a Libertarian.
But my belief in a strong national defense
excludes me from their elite group.

I was more Libertarian in my youth...these days not so much.

The dope & open borders turned me off along with some of the practical cultural norms they ignored.

The philosophy might work if everyone in society had an IQ of 125.

With admittedly insincere apologies to Rand and Marx, religion is here to stay. It was present on the plains of Anatolia more than ten millennia ago and will continue for millennia more. America’s founders understood this well, stressing that the Constitution can only work with a virtuous people. …
Oh boy.

John Adams said “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people”, not a “virtuous people” whose definition has been fungible (originally meant to uphold a standard of manliness).

They are plain nuts is what they are. I am all for smaller government but the idea that police forces should be privately provided is just crazy. You do need SOME government infrasture.

What I assume this article is referring to when uses the word ayahuasca:

Ayahuasca is a type of brew made from ingredients with hallucinogenic properties. Though some claim that it can benefit brain health and well-being, it is also associated with several potential risks

Very interesting read. The reality is that no one gets the right formula for the perfect government for all people, because none exists.

There are forms of government that work better than others for the mases, while others may thrive better in a government that is diametrically opposed to the government that worked well for the other masses.

Humans are diverse, and that diversity tends to clash. But that diversity is not necessarily based upon race but upon thinking/beliefs.

China is the perfect example, because they are among the most homogenous societies when it cones to race still in existence, yet they have diversity issues just like other nations. That diversity comes from beliefs/thoughts. It's at least one rationality that can be made, but there may be others as well.

Anyway, I am rambling based upon thoughts this article has provoked within me, fueled on no doubt by the hallucinogenic days of my youth. 🤣

Of course, it could just be old age and dementia settling in as well. But I found it to be an entertaining exercise. 🤣
