NEW YORK – Former President Donald Trump has broken political norms by visiting one of the most deep-blue areas in New York City, a town not necessarily known for its kindness to Republicans.
Trump rallied a crowd of what his campaign estimated to be 25,000 supporters at Crotona Park in the Bronx on Thursday, far more than the initial 3,500 it said were expected to attend. Those numbers appeared to also include those lined up outside the event – who waited hours for a shot at getting inside even after the event began.
"I'm here tonight to declare we are going to turn New York City around, and we are going to turn it around very, very quickly," Trump said after taking the stage, vowing to bring back safety and better schools to the city. "We are going to make New York bigger, better and greater than ever before."
Trump praised the history of New York, but lamented that it was "now a city in decline."
"I've never seen it quite like this," he said, noting the violent crime taking place on subways and homeless encampments across the city.
Trump went on to rail against President Biden, saying he wasn't "getting the job done" for the people of the Bronx, and that he was "grossly incompetent."
"If a New Yorker can't save this city, no one can," Trump declared to loud cheers. "Who said we're not going to win New York?"

Then you, my black brother, and your fellows, must rise up and throw off your chains. We cant do it for you
I can honestly say this was the best speech trump ever did
I stand corrected.
I agree...this speech was special. I felt that he was really angry at what has been done to him but determined to prevail and that he really does love New York and its real people.
I was especially interested in stories about how he motivated people to quit their bickering and to come together to get a job done. For sure he felt with some really tough people and yet he got them moving in the right direction.
Donald John Trump is an extraordinary person. In 2016 they laughed at him and he had almost zero support in DC. Now he’s rearranged the RNC.

I really don’t think turning around NYC is something the president should shoot for, unless he is running for NYC mayor.
Democrat run states will foment pain on their citizens, regardless, and his failure at fixing NYC will accrue to him.
I am fine with NYC imploding.
He’s probably so excited he can’t sleep
I agree and disagree with you at the same time.
Yes, it should be a local issue but the local politics are so corrupt that they may need some outside help to get it reformed.
That said, Trump needs to hold rallies in Blue areas and make the demonrats have to spend money and time defending those areas. He needs to have a rally in Chicago, SF, Portland, and Seattle.
But none of them were black, man./s
As a result, a strategic decision was made not to unleash the American Red Guard.
If Trump takes New York it is game over. And of course with the left’s “Law of unintended consequences” personality, it is best NY drops its case before Trump decides to hit other Democrats strongholds in NY. Remember, the left kept him in NYC and Trump made the most of it.
And Zelden for governor...A Dream....to be fulfilled??
“ONE OF HIS BEST>>>>>>>>> B E S T speeches ever.”
I agree. Usually, I don’t watch longer than about 30 minutes because most speeches are the same, but hung in there until the end. You can tell that his heart is, and always will be, in NYC; the speech came from his heart. It was different from usual.
“Raul Diaz IIRC. Democrat as well.”
And officially endorsed PDJT at the rally.
I can’t wait to see War Room’s “cold open” this morning. Mika and Joe will be inconsolable. It will be a thing of beauty, and I won’t use my MUTE button today, as I normally do with the old opens.
That would be sooo GREAT.
Lee is such a good man.
link?
They’ll find something to complain about.
NYC has RCV for a reason.
Don’t wish ill upon Gothamites for things they didn’t vote for.
