A Republican presidential challenger campaigning in the South Bronx against an inflation-ridden and unpopular Democratic incumbent. I’ve seen this show before.
It was August 5, 1980, when Ronald Reagan, the GOP nominee against President Jimmy Carter, traveled to the troubled borough of New York City to deliver his message of “Make America Great Again.”
It was, for sure, a raucous scene, plenty of Bronx cheering. Relying on a microphone to make himself heard, Reagan shouted, “I can’t do a damned thing for you if I don’t get elected!”

maybe so, but this is the first thing Trump has done in a long time that i like. good for him. go preach to the lost souls, not the converted.
Made me a bit nervous seeing the names Reagan, Pinkerton and Trump in the same sentence.
In my mind the Reagan visit was iconic and says it all about American politics.
I love and respect Reagan, but he went to the Bronx and angrily yelled back at an old black guy.
You’d think that would be bad, but people totally liked it.
We had reached a point where even the media knew Carter was a disaster.
Although today’s media is much worse, I think they really know Biden is an even worse disaster.
And as leftist and crazed as they are, note that they now seem to be discussing what will happen when Trump IS elected.
And I don’t think Trump will yell at anybody.
Indeed.
I hope everything turns out ok for Donald.
Right now, Donald is the only hope for America.
Trump seems to be enjoying this campaign, finally. It’s been a grind so far, with all the distractions, but I think he’s found his footing. It’s going to be a good summer.
Ditto.
“go preach to the lost souls, not the converted.”
The Hood has been converted for many years.
We’ve got the votes, if we can keep ‘em.
It’s Those That Count The Votes that are gonna be the problem.
And the Evil Purple People Eaters at SEIU that will cause the mischief.
Reagan was right in there with the crowd in the Bronx, face to face and mixing in with the mob, Reagan carried New York twice.
Here is some gritty video of the down and dirty event.

...this is the first thing Trump has done in a long time that i like...Really? Then you must like Biden.
Trump accomplished more for Americans in a 4 year term than any President in your lifetime. Including Reagan, as great as he was.
Yes.
I had to agree with a man being interviewed who said “Back when Bill Clinton was in office we lamented how bad things were and how he represented so much evil and how we could barely stand it. Today in 2024 those seem like the good old days and it really wasn’t so bad compared with today.”
If he survived Harlem, I would think the Bronx might just be a cake-walk. 🙂👍
I am watching it. He has come out with some great jokes, like:
“I don’t call her Crooked any more, I call her Beautiful Hillary. I took Crooked for Joe Biden.I don’t like using it for two people at the same time.”
