Elon Musk’s Tesla is continuing to lay off employees as the company has slashed an additional 600 jobs across its California facilities, affecting a wide range of positions from factory workers to engineers.
CNBC reports that Tesla has been grappling with a series of challenges that have led to multiple rounds of layoffs over the past month. The latest round of layoffs, reported in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act filing obtained by CNBC, impacted a wide range of positions, from entry-level roles to directors, spanning various departments such as factory workers, software developers, and robotics engineers. This move comes as Tesla faces weakening demand for its electric vehicles and increased competition in the market.

My thoughts exactly.
Kinda what I was thinking....looks like a hit piece for whatever reason.
Having said that, I’m no fan of EVs and wouldn’t have one even if Elon offered to deliver it personally.
Impractical on many levels IMO.
Biden is going to have to dump more money into it.
Elon Musk
@elonmusk
The more unfair the attacks on Trump seem to the public, the higher he will rise in the polls

Tesla - TSLA - One Year Weekly Chart
It’s a fad. The whole green/ev thing is a fraud and a scam. If it were me, I’d sell and take the money to something else.
“It’s a fad.”
When you have the world’s best selling car it is not a fad.
You seem to have forgotten how EMusk announced years ago that he was getting out of CaCaLand. There is no hope of any business out this way. Even Chevron is leaving, shutting down their refineries.
Leaving CaCaLand is not like leaving a sinking ship. It is like getting out of a burning building. Anybody who does not understand that is an idiot.
Lots of people are willing to suffer huge quantities of taxes and regulations in exchange for not having to sweat through a humid summer, swat away mass quantities of mosquitoes, or dig their driveway out in a cold snowy winter.
Yup. Tesla sales growth has plateaued.
btt
Elon Musk just lost $28 billion as Tesla took a beating. Now Toyota says ‘people are waking up to reality’ that EV adoption will be an uphill battle
EVs are indeed a fad because they’re impractical and we don’t have electrical generation capacity.
Mandating EVs will destroy the economy; that’s why Biden wants EVs.
“EVs are indeed a fad”
A. fad that has produced the best selling car in the world!
Tesla predicted revenue in 2024: $118 billion
2024 profit +20% YOY
True. They prefer the Teslas and BYDs. But the crap Chinese EVs are dirt cheap. Good luck getting them to survive into a 2nd year of ownership. The president of BYD has stated they won't sell EVs into the USA, but they're selling into Mexico and Canada. She says too many BS regulations trying to import into the USA.
Not quite. Pick the current quarters on that graph, and count back 4 times to the prior year, and see massive sales growth. The growth continues. Even in California, where the Fremont factory sold their 3 millionth car produced there. That's a lot of EVs, and their competitors in the USA can barely compete with that single factory in Fremont. Tesla is building more factories, beyond the others in Texas, China, and Germany; currently building one in Mexico with others planned for Indonesia, India, and potentially a couple other countries (in the Middle East). They wouldn't be building unless they're constrained by vehicle production for waiting buyers.
It is a nightmare to get ANY replacement parts for ANYTHING made in China,.
Why would cars be any different???
I STILL LOVE the story about when he cut back operations in Central Calif-SF- over Covid, etc.
EMPLOYEES OF THE CLEANING SERVICE HE HAD HIRED TO CLEAN THE OFFICES tried to sue him for lost wages.
THEY WERE NOT ELON’S EMPLOYEES.....
They were employees of the cleaning service company
Biden is destroying the economy in various ways. Mandates are one way. Biden may say he wants EVs, but he hates Tesla, while backing unionization and supporting GM, Ford, and others.
Tesla is forward thinking, creating a charging infrastructure for EVs, and partnering with electric utilities to increase electrical supplies (worldwide). Other EV makers are backwards thinking, and are failing. Tesla will continue to be successful despite Biden.
I find it odd when Ford, GM and Fiat lay off tens of thousands say that it’s just adjustments to the market. But Elon lays 600 useless eaters and it’s a bloodbath.
