I think it is maybe only now that the “news” is reporting these accidents as often as they have maybe always been happening.

All that we can really be certain about is the steadfast leadership of the Secretary of Transportation. He is hyperfocused on the job, and totally isn’t distracted by his obsession with cramming things up his backside.

Way back in the day I worked on barge vertical market software. Accidents happen all the time, reporting was built into the software. Matter of fact, our big edge at the time was that we were one of the first to hook into GPS so as to do constant position recording (for insurance, etc.)

You ask what’s happening? Are you deaf, dumb, and blind? Ever since the 2008 election America has been under relentless attack by its enemies foreign and domestic who have joined forces to destroy our entire way of life. Bottom line: Elections, especially fraudulent ones, can destroy any country. Think about that next time you cast a ballot.

Probably nothing. Busy shipping lanes, just like busy roads, have accidents. And any bridge built more than 30 years ago was never conceived to have ships as big as they are now anywhere near it. But people are looking now. Just like all the train derailment stories in 2002, trains derail all the time, 90% of the time it doesn’t make the news, until one of the cable networks was bored. One really spectacular bridge incident has the newsies paying attention.

Well...

The debacle in Baltimore was caused by a power outage on a SHIP. In Galveston, the vessel was a BARGE. Apples and oranges. One has power, the other (as far as I know) has no power. It seems like the barge would be much harder to control which is why sometimes you see two tugboats attached to a barge.

America’s state of dysfunction? Frankly, I’m surprised we don’t see more stuff going on, but then our leadership/media seems to have mastered the art of deception and narrative making. Look for things to get a lot worse before they get better. Many local papers seem to have endless stories of awards and recognition compared to hard news. The band plays while the ship is sinking.
