Hey, I’ve been meaning to ask. Have you had the onslaught of cicadas that everyone is talking about? A former freeper/Facebook friend uploaded a video from her house, and I’ll swear even listening to it on the computer was completely nerve wracking! We usually have a few of them in the middle of summer, but never like THAT.
No, I heard one yesterday afternoon and saw a husk on a grass seed stem while I was mowing. We might not have one of the big broods here; just the “annual” ones and they’re a little slow to come out.
One of the Nashville news stations did a piece last week about a couple whose house was totally covered with cicadas. None of their neighbors had any!
I don’t know what to expect here. We’ve had huge hatchings a couple of times in the past but I don’t remember when the last one was. It’s been a while.
The noise really gets on some people’s nerves but it’s never bothered me. Some people don’t like katydids but they’re my favorite summer bugs. Different strokes for different folks, as they say. :-)
If I had a house covered with those things, I’d be GONE!! I hate them. My dogs used to eat them and of course, it would make them sick. But they had to go out to do their “job”, and, well, the critters were just there.
I love the sound of crickets in the distance. We haven’t had any for years. Mainly, I think, because of the drought here. We’ve never had katydids as far as I know. I haven’t even seen a grasshopper for ages, come to think of it. If only the skeeters would disappear! LOL! Life would be good.
Now...I’d best finish this show and hit the pillows. It’s been a good day, but time to end it for tomorrow...and tunes! See ya then. [sorry....]
It would be a little freaky to walk outside and see the house covered with them. Even with the big hatchings we had, they didn’t do that here.
The cats didn’t eat them, as far as I know, but they’d play with them a little. They were a bit afraid of them.
The crickets are out in force here. I stepped out a little while ago and they’re loud tonight. There’s still a month and a half or so before the katydids join the chorus.
A shame you don’t have crickets to enjoy. Just skeeters to pester you.
I’m off to the pillows too. I didn’t get to sleep until after 6:30 this morning. Catch ya tomorrow.
This Mother’s Day will be special for me. A bunch of republican women have come out saying they believe the life of the mother is more important than the life of the child. They are saying if ithey had to choose, they would chose to murder their baby.
What kind of mother wouldn’t sacrifice her life for her child?
What kind of man would love a woman who would not??
The republicans are now pro homosexuality, pro groomer, pro abortion.
They fund every democrat budget since Obama to include granny’s in schools.
The Republican Party left me.
I will support local elections with freedom loving small government candidates.
The big pharma, big gov med republicans can pound sand.
Freedom matters. Their move to the Marxist left has emboldened evil at every level.
And of course the expose that MTG made millions off insider trading with the Ukraine war, was another nail in the coffin. Of course she stopped self reporting. Do you really think she changed her ways ??
Your sons daughters husbands wives and grandchildren while she and the rest of the uniparty cash in.
It just occurred to me that this is the first year I won’t be sending a Mother’s Day card or flowers. Lost Mom last month. 😪 She was holding out for either the Rapture, or her 100th birthday. She definitely missed the Rapture. Her 100th birthday... she “missed it by that much” — four months.
Good morning Mayflower ((HUGS))
Sorry for your loss. We lost our mother two years ago. So, yeah, no cards or flowers.
WOW! If you can’t make it to the Rapture, getting close to 100 is a close second.
“getting close to 100 is a close second.”
So true. She was lucky/blessed that her mind was sharp until about her last week on earth.
Then she began talking to people we couldn’t see, forgiving some (for what? IDK), scolding some, entertaining some in the living room. My angel SIL who cared for her would rearrange furniture at Mom’s direction to make room for her “visitors”.
I've heard about this. God bless your SIL.
I had a brief experience with a BIL passing and talking to my mom who had proceeded him by a couple of months.
Repeat post for those who missed it.

Comments below the video:
“My husband is a veteran and just wants to be left alone. As he has said many times to me. “When the day comes we have to fight, we will fight to the death, no surrender, no comprise, we die together and take as many as we can with us” Then he smiles and says...”I know what they know, so it will be a good death “ Guess we’re going to see Jesus a bloody mess 👍”
“I’m seeing this more and more the last few days.. (this poem) i think the patriots of this land are slowly at the breaking point... “
“Waking the sleeping giant!!!! 🙏🏼❤️🔥🥺💔🙏🏼”
