Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) wasted little time after 163 Democrats voted to save his speakership to announce he would not use Congress’s constitutional power of the purse to stop special counsel Jack Smith’s “lawfare” against Donald Trump.
The Speaker, in some of his earliest public comments after Democrats saved his gavel, refused to make any attempt to defund Smith’s office as it continues its prosecutions of Trump.
“That’s not something you wave a wand and just eliminate the special counsel as a provision,” Johnson told Politico. “There is a necessity for a function like that, because sometimes the Department of Justice — which is an executive branch agency — can’t necessarily, without a conflict of interest, investigate or prosecute the president who’s their boss, or the president’s family.”

I hope you’re correct. And it would be better smith continue to eff up rather than that pr!ck Johnson defund the special counsel and the uproar that would follow...
Of course i’m always reminded how 99% of the GOP fight like little girls and enjoy getting screwed....i’m sorry- little girls fight harder than 99% of the GOP- my bad...
Johnson is a Never Trumper and an enabler of ‘Rat Lawfare.
I think Jeffries sells him for a couple of packs of smokes these days.
"Hey Mikey! He likes it!"
Trump is right on policy and wrong on people.
PDJT is playing the long game.
Turnabout will come.
The Devil always over-plays his hand.
> Jack Smith is doing a perfectly capable job of destroying himself...
Yep. And having that trial leaves openings into the machinations behind it. Let him dangle.
A reporter asked Nancy if she was happy with Mike Johnson as Speaker. Her answer: 'Yes; Mike Johnson runs the house as it should be run'. (not an exact quote, but close).
Another reporter asked Hakeem if he was looking forward to being Speaker soon. His answer: 'It doesn't matter; We already get every thing we want. The House Democrats may be a slim minority, but we really do run everything in reality.' (again, maybe not an exact quote, but very close).
Considering the epic corruption and lies from those in government at all levels, did it ever occur to you people there are few if anyone that can be trusted in D.C.?
“Johnson Vows to Protect Jack Smith”
Republican senators made similar vows to protect Mueller during the Russian Hoax investigation of president Trump.
Johnson is a rat.
There is no opposition party. The Democrats own the Republicans.
Pretty sure that was sarcasm.
You don’t have time to be livid. All of the posts you do in a day require ALL of your time.
Another repub who has a million excuses to let the RATs get their way. There never seems to be anything that can be done about anything, is there? More reasons why the repubs can’t do anything. You’d think that Freepers would be getting tired of being betrayed. Constantly and without fail. For decades.
And when there is a Congresscritter that at least tries to fight back he/she gets lambasted in favor of some “expedient long game” that never seems to materialize.
The fool repubs need to fight every step of the way. If the globalists win then the assistant Democrats will be facing the same firing squads as the MTGs. Get a f***ing clue
Gauls me that no one in this party fights for Trump
Gauls me that no one in any party fights for due process.
Can anyone say “Ungovernable “? I knew you could
Jack Smith will stay open for business during the entire Trump Presidency.
He only needs to ask AG to expand.
He will and it will be approved.
The people thinking it’s good to fund him are Brain dead.
He’s brain dead, Jim

Why? Another useless waste of time. Defunding Jack Smith is as useless as impeaching Biden. Neither will succeed since both require Senate approval and Biden would have to sign.
Worthless traitorous scumbag...
He’s not totally wrong here — especially as it relates to the rationale for having special counsel regulations in the DOJ.
But he puts himself firmly at the top of the cowardly cuck list when he suggests that Congressional powers are subordinate to executive branch regulations.
Jack Smith’s machinations (evidence planting and manipulation in the Mar-a-Lago farce) have a growing potential to blow up into a gigantic scandal for Biden and the Deep State. Not sure about Johnson’s motives, but letting Smith twist in the wind a while longer could end up being quite worthwhile, versus giving the Smith an excuse to pretend he wuz cheated out of a sure conviction.
