Once again, Russian President Vladimir Putin is seemingly rattling the nuclear saber. But why now?
The Kremlin, citing recent comments by Western leaders regarding the war in Ukraine, said Monday that it would soon carry out simulated use of battlefield, or tactical, nuclear weapons — marking the first time Moscow announced such an exercise.
The announcement drew a sharp response. U.S. Defense Department spokesman Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder called it “entirely inappropriate.” NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhlallah termed Moscow’s plans “dangerous and irresponsible,” and the European Union called on Russia to “stop the escalation.”
Like so many pronouncements from Moscow, this one’s timing might matter as much as its substance.

In fact there are 95,000 NATO troops drilling now...the rough equivalent of 5 divisions. And therefore almost certain to have a nuke component.
Why can’t we just leave these countries alone?
Macron, Camewron, and Jefferies are talking about sending troops in or using NATO provided missiles to attack deep into Russia. Putin is just responding to the threats.
French President Emmanuel Macron said he doesn’t exclude sending troops to Ukraine.
U.K. Foreign Secretary David Cameron said during a visit to Kyiv the same day that Ukraine will be able to use British long-range weapons to strike targets inside Russia.
Putin is an insane psychopath.
The woman riding this doesn’t seem to notice they were giving Ukraine F 16 which we use for the tactical airdropped nuclear delivery program. I guess that’s what passes for deep thought these days.
...BECAUSE the Democrats want everybody dead!
Article fails to mention:
1. Providing then escalating weapons to one side of an armed conflict;
2. Threats of putting NATO troops in-country;
3. Calling for regime change in russia-land / arrest warrant for their president;
4. Our own politicians gleefully proclaiming killing Russians is the best money ever spent; or maybe
5. “Defensive” alliance NATO made unilateral war on Yugoslavia, Iraq, Afganistan, Syria, & Yemen.
Oh, don’t forget the largest, man-made environmental disaster in history - the sabotage of NS2 that the “west” now says isn’t worth investigating.
Add in the “largest NATO military exercise” EVER about to commence on the border of Uke-land...and maybe russkie general staff is preparing a just-in-case reason.
An insane psychopath? When the Soviets placed a nuclear attack force in Cuba, we almost went World War III over it. And would have except they pulled out. And then when Soviets and Cubans were building an air base in Grenada, Reagan’s televised speech was discussing that would be intolerable to have TU 22 backfire bombers based there. And we invaded. It’s not a being a psychopath to respond to a direct nuclear threat right on your border. Especially when the people doing it are conducting strikes inside your country already.
He isn’t doing anything we wouldn’t do, and haven’t done.
What harm could Putin do if he re-assembled the Evil Empire and even went after Poland and Finland?
After all, it’s none of our business. Right?
He is mass murdering people in another country for no reason.
Is your allegiance to Russia?
Deterrence. It’s worked both ways since 1950.
The US has been unable to avoid foreign entanglements for over 100 years. About the time the Federal Reserve was created.
“Is your allegiance to Russia?”
That’s a valid question when too many people on this site will defend Russia over everyone else.
“The US has been unable to avoid foreign entanglements for over 100 years.”
Nonsense. Our first war as a nation was against the Muslims in northern Africa. And etc.
Barbary Coast pirates?
1. Because from early on Biden has stated his goal to dismantle Russia as we know it.
2. Macron last week stated he would send troops to Ukraine.
3 Over the weekend House minority leader Jeffries spoke of sending troops to Ukraine.
