Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey (R) reportedly signed a bill into law Thursday that would ensure President Biden will appear on the state’s November ballot.
The Associated Press reported that a spokeswoman said the bill had been signed. The Hill has reached out to Ivey’s office for comment.
The bill’s singing follows the unanimous approval last week from the Alabama State Senate, after a state elections official warned that Biden may miss the deadline to qualify.
Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen (R) sent a letter to the state Democratic Party chair in April noting that the deadline for certifying candidates to be on the general election ballot is Aug. 15, four days before the Democratic National Convention where Biden is slated to become the party’s nominee.
The state Senate passed a bill 31-0 Tuesday to push back the certification deadline to 74 days before the election. The Alabama Legislature previously moved back the deadline in 2020 as a one-time fix to accommodate for both the Democratic and Republican conventions that year.
Members of Alabama’s House of Representatives also unanimously voted for the legislation Thursday, the AP reported.
The Biden campaign said in a statement that Biden will appear on the ballot in all 50 states this fall.

Why can’t both parties just schedule their conventions at the right time?
Does anyone believe, for one instant, that Democrats would push a law to make sure Trump was on a ballot?
MORE SHENANIGANS.
I truly thought ALABAMA was smarter than that.
Dems would fight tooth and nail to keep Trump off the ballot if every i wasn’t dotted and t crossed.
I really hate the losers in the Repub. party that never put up a fight.
The did it for trump too in 2020. I’m sure you were pissed off then too.
>While as usual Dems are allowed to disregard laws and regulations, it might be a good thing here in case the Dems finally realize they need to replace Brandon, but can’t.<
I agree!
Poison Ivey.
Both parties suck.
Come on. He’ll lose Alabama.
They think Democrats will now be constrained by precedent - but they never are.
I always figured it would be the state that would bow to Biden.
Enshrining? Big word for small deed.
If our Chief Magistrate of the USA, the President, can scorn the law without penalty, why not then any State Governor likewise? Eh?
The letter after the name means jack anymore.
The only reason political parties still exist is to give voters the illusion of choice.
A pol is either loyal to our former republic or to Deep State.
Most of our pols, local, state, AND federal are Deep State.
And there’s not a truly red state in the nation.
Not one.
The Uniparty strikes again! Laws are only for the little peons, not the ruling class.
