Russia warns the world is on the brink of a ‘direct military clash’ between nuclear powers

Russia warned Monday that the risk of a “direct military clash” between Russia and nuclear powers in the West is rising.

“Westerners are dangerously balancing on the brink of a direct military clash between nuclear powers, which is fraught with catastrophic consequences,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in a video message to the participants of the Moscow Nonproliferation Conference.

The comments come after Russia reacted angrily to the U.S. House of Representatives passing a $61 billion foreign aid package for Kyiv at the weekend.

House lawmakers approved the aid Saturday despite long-standing objections from hardline Republicans; the bill now passes to the Democratic-majority Senate, which is expected to approve the legislation later this week before it’s passed to President Joe Biden to sign it into law.

The aid is a lifeline for Ukraine, whose forces in the east of the country have had to ration their usage of shells amid shortages of supplies; Russian forces have been making gains in the Donbas region, with Ukraine pleading for more air defense systems, artillery and ammunition to turn the tide in the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked U.S. lawmakers saying the bill passed by the House “will keep the war from expanding, save thousands and thousands of lives, and help both of our nations to become stronger.” He urged the Senate to pass the bill as quickly as possible.

If ol’ Vlad is really worried, he can always do the right thing for once in his life and remove his army from Ukraine.

Russia is willing to fight an existential war to keep Ukraine as a vassal state, free of NATO.

Is NATO willing to fight an existential war with Russia to acquire Ukraine?

Not likely.

They won’t. They have no incentive to.............

Avoiding nuclear war would be one, if he is so worried.

They will nuke Ukraine first.

You don't know how it works.   If one weapon is used in theater, all will be used everywhere, least the retaliatory strikes escalate.

Why is Russia so worried? All it does is line the pockets of some politicians, it won't actually help Ukraine at all.

True. But I think Russia might have been hoping that this thing could come to an end somehow. The globalist crooks want to keep it going indefinitely because of the kickbacks it generates.

Of course, a negotiated settlement would require cooperation from both Russia and Ukraine and I don’t see either one acting rationally or reasonably.

No, he’s a KGB thug; always has been, always will be. The only solution to people like him is their removal from Planet Earth. There’s really nothing new about this.

The worst aspect of human debris like Biden being in positions of power is that they embolden pieces of human debris like Putin.

if he is so worried.

He's not worried. He's lying, and engaging in Nuclear Blackmail. Russians have been doing that ever since they developed their first atomic bomb.

"Has anyone ever opined here just how many (ballpark) of the MILLIONS of 155 mm Artillery shells in South Korea could be swiftly sent to Ukraine along with fieldpieces to fire them if someone in charge wanted them to go and in a hurry?"

Before you propose that have you ever given thought to the fact that South Korea needs to be able to resist a North Korean invasion themselves?

Just askin'.

Putin is playing 8D chess!!! Rubles are still on massive sale, 70% off and all it takes is a credit card and 15mins to sign up for an account on Forex.

Which is why Russia needs to back off.

It is hilarious that you think you know what Russia needs to do.

Why didn't we back off in 1991?   We won our war, I helped.   The evil empire fell but our Neocons couldn't settle for that.   We had to punish the Russians for ever existing.

Our greed and hubris has destroyed us.

In fact, Biden and Crew would love nothing more than to see Russian tanks in Kiev, before the election.

They only care about Ukraine to the extent that it helps them politically.

If ol’ Vlad is really worried, he can always do the right thing for once in his life and remove his army from Ukraine.

Britain, France, Belgium, Netherlands et.al. have all relinquished their empires. The USA voluntarily gave the Philippines full independence after WW2. Only Moscow refuses to accept that the era of empires is OVER, and demands to re-construct theirs by force of arms, at the expense of the peoples who were finally freed in 1991.

This of course means nothing to Russophiles. As far as they Russians are concerned, might makes right, period, end of story. Has been so since the Mongol period ended. Which is why western nations oppose Russia, why NATO still exists, and why more nations in Russia's proximity have asked to join NATO since 2022. ASKED to join. The NATO charter does not allow it to force itself on anyone. (Another lie they keep promoting....that NATO was expanding itself into Ukraine. Any and all contacts with NATO were/are at Ukraine's instigation. Had to be. The events of 2014 and 2022 confirmed their fears. And everybody else's.

Easy way out of the crisis is for Putin to cease occupation of all Ukrainian territory. If he won't, whack the bear on the nose until he does.
