ROME — Pope Francis commemorated Earth Day on Monday by warning that the planet is “falling into ruin” thanks to humanity’s failure to protect it.
“Our generation has bequeathed many riches, but we have failed to protect the planet and we are not safeguarding peace,” the pontiff chided on X (former Twitter)
“We are called to become artisans and caretakers of our common home, the Earth which is ‘falling into ruin,’” he declared, followed by “#EarthDay.”

The planet survived 4.5 Billion years of meteor bombardment, volcanic mass eruptions, super hurricanes and continental upheavals.
It’s ‘civilization’ that’s falling apart.................

I told my son that if Earth day is brought in class today, ask why is Earth day celebrated on Lenin’s birthday.

Sounds like we need to tax the Church to help pay for saving the planet.

Come to think of it, I've never heard of a movement to dust off plants that might have accumulated debris from sand storms or volcanic eruptions. Neither does anyone seem to be in charge of raking the leaves that fall off trees in the Earth's rainforests. And don't get me started on the lack of rock scrubbing. Have you seen that nasty lichen that grows on unattended rocks? Yeech.
The Pope is right. Someone needs to take care of this earth before it looks like squatters have taken residence.

People can go outside and have a look and see the pope is full of it

“The planet” has been around far longer than man and life on it has survived changes for more immense than humans can imagine today.

Where I live, we’re having the usual spring weather; but kids are growing up more rotten than ever, and the cost of living is growing.

Someone remind me which religion he’s the Pope of.
