Democrat Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly vetoed several bills on Friday, including one that would protect minors from sex-change drugs and procedures, and two others related to abortion.
Substitute Bill for Senate Bill 233 would have outlawed so-called “gender-affirming care” for sex-confused minors, including the use of puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and mutilating surgeries. The bill also would have allowed for a cause of action against doctors who break the law and would have restricted the use of state funds for such procedures.
“This divisive legislation targets a small group of Kansans by placing government mandates on them and dictating to parents how to best raise and care for their children,” Kelly said. “I do not believe that is a conservative value, and it’s certainly not a Kansas value.”

...obviously she stands for demented values.
So the Governor of Kansas is in favor of murder and maiming. How is that legal?
Can they overwrite her veto?
She really thinks people can have a sex change and that it’s just Plastic Surgery
From neighboring Missouri, we are embarrassed and appalled at her actions. She belongs in California or on the east coast.
No, but an override might be possible. And more permanent.
Good grief, they give puberty blockers to convicted rapists. Does she not know it’s the same drug she wants little boys to consume.
...from those of think the murder of the most innocent of human life is....”freedom”.
She’s a disgrace. Kansas is slowly turning purple because of a few counties. My county (Johnson) is now blue and I often think of moving to MO.
I agree. My county of McPherson is also descending to the dark side.
Let’s put the sexual mutilation of children on all our ballots for the next ten years..
And while we’re at it lets see how ‘the people’ feel about sexual weirdo porn in school libraries.
Nice way to get our people out to vote... and letting vile democrats know how we feel about them.
We here in Kansas lost an opportunity in 2022 to elect an America First Republican governor, but the RINOs joined forces with the Democrats to re-elect Kelly by less than 3%. Really stomach-churning stuff.
Override her and shove both bills right down her throat.
Yep. I had read that the Kansas Senate and House had passed a bill to implement a flat state income tax, and Kelly had vetoed it. So I wrote an email to her office asking why. Somebody on her staff sent me a reply stating something to effect that “Gov. Kelly feels it would disproportionately benefit the highest income earners in the state vs. the lowest income earners. The lowest income earners would only have $50 dollars reduced from their tax liability and the highest earners would have $4,500 dollars reduced from their tax liability”. I also asked what the flat tax rate was, (I hadn’t read the bill), and my question wasn’t answered. I looked at those numbers and I’m incredulous, because ALL wage earners in Kansas would have more money in their pocket. So I just gave up, thinking I can’t reason with these people. Frustrating. The only positive thing she has accomplished in her terms was the elimination of the state sales tax on groceries.
Really? Interesting because the county voted for Trump 69% to Biden with 28.6% in 2020. That’s sad to hear.
Let’s hope the legislature can override her latest round of vetoes.
It started this year, but it’s incremental over a three-year period. Why not all at once Governor?
