Iran's massive missile and drone barrage targeting Israel over the weekend is similar to Russian tactics used in frequent strikes on Ukraine, according to a new assessment, after Iran launched its first-ever direct strike from its own territory into Israel.
"Iran's use of drones and missiles shows how Iran is learning from the Russians to develop increasingly dangerous and effective strike packages against Israel," the U.S. think tank, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said on Saturday.
Russia has launched thousands of missile and drone strikes on Ukraine in nearly 26 months of all-out war in the country. It has fired a variety of missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) at Ukraine, including Iranian-designed Shahed explosive drones.
Iran's strikes give Tehran chances to evaluate different attack strategies, understanding how "they can evade and overwhelm U.S. air and maritime defenses more effectively," the think tank said.
The U.S. provides both Israel and Ukraine with air defense capabilities.
On Saturday, Germany said it would transfer an additional Patriot system to Ukraine. The U.S.-made Patriot is considered the gold-standard of air defense, credited with intercepting some of Russia's most advanced missiles...

No, no, they were forced into a partnership by the US, otherwise we could have worked with them /s
Thanks cc.
Give it a rest. I’m pretty sure anyone can figure out that sending a swarm of drones at once is better than sending one at a time to be shot down. But you are so desperate to justify your warmongering.
American tax dollars, from both directions.
The author that takes credit for State Department press kits turned into news.
**sending a swarm.**
Yep, very ancient tactic, whether it be swarms of men with arrows, swords, and spears; or more recently, lots of airplanes to Pearl Harbor; the go big or go home tactic is the preferred plan of those that have the capability.
The propaganda swarm is a favored tactic of war as well.
Bkmk
Ukraine does the same.
A bit more sober than other western analysis I've seen.
Do you understand the difference between an autocracy which is another name for dictatorship and a theocracy?
Your shilling for Ukraine has become nauseating. Any story posted you twist to make it about Ukraine.
Get a life.
Both Israel and Ukraine are being attacked by swarms of shaheed drones.
As for Ukraine, they have fitted Cessna-style light planes with remote controls, packed them with explosives and flown at least one of them more than 600 miles to strike a Russian factory in Yelabuga, 550 miles east of Moscow. Not exactly a "swarm"
Ironically, the Russian factory produces—you guessed it—drones.
Given that America can only produce about 550 Patriot missiles a year and the I. March of 2024 Russia hit the Ukrainians with 3000 FAB guided glide bombs l, your patriot battery does not add up to much. This does not even count the number of missiles and drones on top of that. We are being OUTPRODUCED and no amount of printing dollars can fix that within the timeframe of the Ukraine's imminent military collapse.
These clowns have forgotten about the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. This is a reminder.
Not a new tactic. Ukraine has been doing the same thing.
There are a LOT of other options to the Patriot systems. Whether there is the will in the US, is another matter.
Pentagon’s ‘FrankenSAM’ program cobbles together air defense weapons for Ukraine
A senior U.S. defense official said Thursday that the U.S. has been able to improvise and build a new missile launcher from radars and other parts contributed by allies and partners. The system will be able to launch AIM-9M Sidewinder missiles, which the U.S. announced Wednesday it will send to Ukraine in the latest aid package.
At the same time, U.S. engineers have been able to work with Ukraine to modify a Soviet-era Buk air defense launcher so that it can fire RIM-7 missiles, which the U.S. has in large quantities. Ukraine has a number of the Buk systems, but its supply of missiles had been dwindling.

Tell your leader to put the committed NATO 2% of Canada’s GDP which Canada has always welched on.
RIM-7 missiles cost about $167000 a pop while Russian guided glide bombs probably run under $10000. Sounds like a good way to go broke.
