U.S. President Joe Biden on Friday said he expected Iran to attack Israel "sooner, rather than later" and warned Tehran not to proceed.
Asked by reporters about his message to Iran, Biden said simply, "Don't," and he underscored Washington's commitment to defend Israel.
"We are devoted to the defense of Israel. We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel and Iran will not succeed," he said.
Israel braced on Friday for an attack by Iran or its proxies as warnings grew of retaliation for an attack on Iran's embassy compound last week in Damascus that killed a senior commander in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps' overseas Quds Force and six other officers.
Israel did not claim responsibility for the airstrike on April 1. But Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said Israel "must be punished and shall be" for an operation he said was equivalent to an attack on Iranian soil. Biden said he would not divulge secure information, but said his expectation was that an attack by Iran could come "sooner, rather than later." He spoke to reporters at the White House after a virtual speech to a civil rights conference.
The U.S. rushed warships into position to protect Israel and American forces in the region, hoping to head off a direct attack from Iran on Israel that could come as soon as Friday or Saturday, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday.
The moves by the U.S. that are part of an effort to avoid a wider conflict in the Middle East came after a warning from a person familiar with the matter about the timing and location of the potential Iranian attack, the newspaper said.

I recall Biden basically saying a minor incursion by Russia into Ukraine was not really a big deal.

"You don't need an AR-15—it's harder to aim," he added, "it's harder to use, and in fact you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself. Buy a shotgun! Buy a shotgun!"
I cannot say it often enough the contrast between Trump and Biden is remarkable on top of all of that. Trump is just so much fun. I love him. He’s a good guy. You could picture talking to him one on one as you would your family or friends I often wonder they say 30% still want Biden who are these people sarcasm

He only says this because he knows Iran is afraid to conduct a direct, attributable attack on Israel - no letting how many high-ranking Mullahs would die as a result...not to mention how many civilian deaths would finally be blamed on the bad guys...
Perhaps it will be a tit for tat attack on an Israeli embassy, in a NATO country.

Saying “Don’t” while saying that he “expects” them to attack is saying, “I am going to be ignored because I am feckless and have no ability to lead.”

Because his “Don’t” worked so well last time. I think it was only hrs afterward before hezbollah’s next missile attack on Israel. No one is afraid of Joe’s “Don’t”.
Biden would stop begging Iran for an Iranian deal.
I’m sure the Iranians are shaking in the shoes when a senile old man gives them a threat. Biden might as well be an old man saying get off my lawn to a bunch of punks.
I suppose if they don't, the Democrats will take credit.
In any case, I expect the Democrats to be officially anti-Israel in time for this summer's convention.
