The FBI of today has taken an unprecedented leap towards an autocratic police force. Its reputation as a nonpartisan, ethical protector of the Constitution has been reduced to that of partisan, unethical detractor of the Constitution. We can no longer expect that all federal crimes will be investigated and prosecuted. We no longer expect that justice is blind but that the FBI uses blinders when investigating certain people. The FBI of today is investigating and intimidating parents of schoolchildren and knocking on the doors of those who post opinions on social media. The FBI of today is stonewalling and obfuscating congressional requests and hearings. The FBI is compiling information on anyone who objects to the Democratic Party’s narrative and manipulating through intimidation organizations that don’t support it. Forcing tech providers to remove posts that are pro-Trump or anti-vaccine or anything that offends the current administration is not, and never should be, a function of our federal law enforcement agency.
We have seen the changes in the FBI from an informational resource for the Justice Department to an agency that has usurped the constitutional freedoms afforded us, in the name of political protection of a narrative that supports hubris and power. One can only wonder what other schemes, plans, and subversive actions are now occurring that we do not know about. The bureaucracy will continue to prevail until the people take charge of the government.

It's outrageous that most Republicans voted to spend $200 million on construction of a new FBI headquarters.
The FBI needs to be abolished, not reformed.
This was an interesting article from last year:

The FBI use to go after communists.....now......it’s run by communists.
“The FBI has become the equivalent of the KGB.”
No, the FBI has become something worse. At least the KGB/FSB was and is open and honest about killing and persecuting people to keep the regime in power.
The FBI field offices tend to do some great work in defeating human trafficking but then they have to follow orders from the politicized headquarters that has turned the agency into little more than Chekist political officers.
Taking it down would be a bridge too far. Firing a hundred or so would be proper. Won’t happen.
THey’ll get their new building and the IRS will get it’s 87k new agents.
Note that the 200 million was just some initial payment.
The total cost of the new FBI HQ is currently estimated at $4.5 billion.
DeSantis could straighten the FBI out... but he’ll be needed as a Border Czar..
The FBI should be able to operate out of a storefront in the District of Columbia.
No offense, but you’d have to be a fool to think a LAWYER is suited to do anything to “fix” the FBI.
The new HQ is 4.5 billion in price.
Any new graduate is likely being hired by large/medium accounting firms. The IRS is hiring at GS-7 levels, or about $45K per year, about 50% below the going private sector.
Then there’s the background checks and drug testing. Need I go on?
That was always the FBI. J Edgar created it as a corrupt organization to increase his own power. It’s never been good. And because its first objective is always to be able to blackmail politicians it will never be reformed, or abolished.
When Democrats are in power, they do everything they can to politicize (weaponize) government agencies. When Republicans are in power, they try to manage the status quo. Democrats win by incrementalism.
Every Republican candidate ran on “reforming Washington”. When was the last time a government agency was abolished or even downsized? When was the last time a law was repealed? When was the last time the national debt was reduced?
I don’t blame the politicians. I blame the voters.
LOL - good point.
I was thinking of DeSantis in terms of being a no-nonsense Governor. But yeah, his background is ‘lawyer’ and you could be right on this. What do you feel is the best path?
See Post #8.
The fall of the FBI began during Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Bush 41 and his contacts in the CIA blocked anything from being done.
Ruby Ridge was murder plus FBI-ATF entrapment.
Waco violated the Posse Comitatus Act plus mass murder.
“The FBI field offices tend to do some great work in defeating human trafficking”
I know what you mean, but in a sense, they don’t. They knew all about Epstein Island, and the Epstein Zorro teen girl breeding ranch in New Mexico. They knew all the politicians and celebrities who went there. They knew about the Podesta brothers Hillary DNC pizzagate pedo ring. They had the diary and KNEW Biden was feeling up 13 year old Ashley in the shower. They CONCEALED all of those things.
So that makes me think of a DWI squad in a police department. Say they are really making a lot of arrests and outwardly doing a good job. But for the mayor and powerful men in town, they turn a blind eye and let them go. They ignore the speakeasy down the block. And more than a few of them drive drunk sometimes too coming home from choir practice.
Are they really doing good work? Really?
I think they are doing human trafficking theater.
Putting someone like that in charge of reforming the FBI is like inviting Jerry Sandusky to be a special guest on “Sesame Street.”
There is a slight difference. The KGB wanted everyone to know they were ruthless, corrupt and to be feared. The FBI pretends it is not, but they are ruthless, to be feared and also corrupt.
What you said, on steroids. The FBI has now become the equivalent of the East German Stasi.
