More than a dozen House GOP privacy hawks have blocked the House of Representatives from advancing a Speaker Mike Johnson-backed bill to renew a controversial federal government surveillance tool known as Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

It comes hours after former President Trump posted on Truth Social, "KILL FISA, IT WAS ILLEGALLY USED AGAINST ME AND MANY OTHERS."

Nineteen Republicans voted against their party leadership

We could only get 19 republicans to vote against FISA??!

Unbelievable! The most abused law, that was used to undermine our Republican President, and also used against conservatives, for all kinds of LAWLESS ACTIVITIES, and we can only get 19 Republicans to vote against it.

I don't want to use bad language in name calling. These useless jerks are very fiesty when they have hearings with DOJ and FBI officials, but when it comes to vote they are a bunch of liars and crooks.

I have said it before, a lot of them are totally useless in Congress. They should join the entertainment industry and do pretend hearings to post on Youtube.

When the scum who voted for it come home to their constituents and ask for their votes, I hope their constituents will ask them some very tough questions.

There are even democrats who don’t want FISA, even though it was used against Trump and other conservatives. How is it possible that we can only get 19 republicans to vote against it?

The problem is, they don’t care what the law says or what any court rules. They are now dangerous in their treatment of the law and reality in general. It’s a rough situation we find ourselves in.

Since the old FISA law was used to undermine President Trump and conservatives, why did all the demonrats vote against it?

I don’t know and I don’t care what the democrats do as much. The Republicans need to make this go away. The democrats are probably worried it will be used against them now.

“Terrorists must be chomping at the bit...open border...no surveillance...every city is a target!!!!”

A bombing once in a while is FAR SUPERIOR to a weaponized federal government - in other words, living in a dictatorship, which is almost what we have at this point.

The "intelligence community" probably has something already planned for FISA not being renewed, to punish the opponents.

However, are we going to live in fear and submit to those who wish to drastically curb our freedoms and only allow us to vote for those they allow and not speak up against policies that we disagree with?

Probably because of the ‘tightening’ of rules...but I’m still with most here, SCRAP IT!

You could be right, but I’m puzzled as to why all 41 members of the House Freedom Caucus didn’t vote against it, only a few did.

If it is not renewed there will be a terrorist attack and that it will then get renewed.

FISA is an abomination that needs to end.

FISA has been used against innocent Americans.

Here’s what just happened in Congress:

Speaker Johnson tried to get 702 reauthorized even though the FBI used it to spy on the Trump campaign.

Then President Trump called for the bill to be killed.

19 GOP reps managed to stop it.

Result: Johnson has been totally exposed.

The GOP leadership tried to “sweeten the pot” by stating they would include a provision that if the FISA court was going to spy on a Congressman then THAT would require a warrant. But, a warrant wouldn’t be required for them to spy on us peons. 19 Congressman didn’t go for it.
