Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) Republican colleagues dealt him another blow Wednesday by killing a motion to allow a vote on his proposed Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) reauthorization.
Nineteen House Republicans sided with Democrats Wednesday to defeat the rule, 228 to 193.
Johnson called for a House Republican Conference meeting Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 Eastern to “regroup” as he tries to extend FISA’s authorization – with some reforms – before the April 19 deadline.

Let it die
The only think I detest more than Rs are Ds.
Because illegal spying has to continue
I don’t think I like this new Speaker.
Just let it die. Let’s call it the first step in de-weaponizing FedGov...
Mike Johnsin is another lightweight. A Democrat in Republicans clothing.
Just like McCarthy and Hastert and Boehner.
The FISA courts are secret courts of 'The Star Chamber' and probably the most Unconstitutional action in American History.
Why would you post that here on this thread? Killing the FISA bill is a good thing.
YES, KILL IT DEAD!
Any GOPer that votes FOR FISA extension is a closet fellow traveler...
A clear example of the “uniparty’s” dangerous existence...
Because Johbson wants to reauthorize FISA.
“I don’t think I like this new Speaker.”
It is the nature of politics that no one gets what they want. Everything is a compromise. There’s also a lot of transnationalism. You vote for my pro-abortion bill, and I’ll vote to authorize those new ships the navy needs. If you’re hard over on the anti-abortion side, then you have to try to figure out if the bill will pass with your vote or whether it’s killed by something else. What you personally want doesn’t matter. If you look at the voting record of any Congressman, you’ll see they do this all the time. If you get 51% of whatever you believe in, you are fabulously successful. The last honest Democrat, Patric Moynahan said, “Politics is all about who gets how much and when.”
He may SAY that; but I wouldn’t be so sure. Legislators have clever ways to hide their true intentions behind votes that don’t help a bill get passed anyway.
Insert this in the bill: “Anyone who has been the subject of a search much be notified within 30 days who did the search, and given the reason for the search. Failure to notify shall subject the person who did the search to criminal prosecution and civil fines which shall not be paid by the employer.”
I don’t think I like this new Speaker.
I believe the coming out of nowhere to ascend to the Speakership, and having this glossy Christian appearance was the ploy.
It’s fallen apart now.
Let it die...
even if they kill it off, the feds will still continue illegally spying on Americans
He has started acting like someone has something on him.
Really like how a 'carve out' was done for members of Congress.....
