SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Illinois lawmakers are considering a bill that would create a state-based guaranteed income program.
State Sen. Ram Villivalam (D-Chicago) sponsors Senate Bill 3462, which calls on Illinois to adopt such a program after the 2027 calendar year. Through this legislation, residents who meet certain qualifications would be eligible for monthly $1,000 cash payments, regardless of immigration status. It’s unclear how long the payments would last.
According to the bill’s language, those potentially eligible for $1,000 cash payments include people who:
Provide care for a child or other specified dependent Recently gave birth or adopted a child Enroll or have enrolled in an educational or vocational program

I’m sure glad that Illinois has apparently solved all its other problems, such as the rampant crime in Chicago.
RE: a child....
Someone I knew had a brother working for the welfare office.
One woman argued with him and said the government money to her should be higher. He firmly told her nothing in her case indicated she could get more money unless she had another child. She said “Okay. I’ll work on that and the next time I see you I’ll have one on the way.”
Annnnnnd that’s why I abandoned Chicago in 2017. $1200 bucks a MONTH in taxes alone for a modest 4 bedroom house. They spend like it’s water and then demand more and more every year. The whole place can just collapse in on itself.
... and its budget problem, so much so that it’s rolling in money enough to just give it away for free.
