They are doing this because of inflation yet this program will cause more inflation... Brilliant thinking..š

They'll complain that's it's "not enough for a family to live on."
That's not the intent, but it soon will be.

The state is broke and wants to piss more money into the wind.

All that will do is raise rents $1000.

I’m sure glad that Illinois has apparently solved all its other problems, such as the rampant crime in Chicago.

RE: a child....
Someone I knew had a brother working for the welfare office.
One woman argued with him and said the government money to her should be higher. He firmly told her nothing in her case indicated she could get more money unless she had another child. She said “Okay. I’ll work on that and the next time I see you I’ll have one on the way.”

Annnnnnd that’s why I abandoned Chicago in 2017. $1200 bucks a MONTH in taxes alone for a modest 4 bedroom house. They spend like it’s water and then demand more and more every year. The whole place can just collapse in on itself.

... and its budget problem, so much so that it’s rolling in money enough to just give it away for free.

Illinois, not Illinoi. Sorry for the misspelling.
BTW left out of there in 1975 and other than to visit my brother and Mother, never been back.

$1,000 is the new $0 in Illinois.

"Regardless of immigration status"
Attention Illinois residents ... brace yourselves for the biggest influx of illegals, grifters, criminals, lazy, indigent, vagrants, homeless, etc. you can imagine.
Oh, and bend over for an endless succession of tax hikes to pay for all this.

It looks like Illinois is devolving into a two tier society: politicos doling out money, and a parasitic class which vacuums it up. Everyone else has left Illinois or is leaving.
