Utah Senate Republican Candidate John Curtis Says Border Wall Carries ‘Pent-Up Racism’

Rep. John Curtis (R-UT), who is running for Senate to replace retiring Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT), said in 2017 that former President Donald Trump’s border wall carries “pent-up racism.”

Curtis is just one of the many candidates running to replace Romney. He was the mayor of Provo and considered himself a Democrat until 2006.

During an online debate in 2017, he said, when running for Congress, that hopes to continue then-President Donald Trump’s agenda.

Glad to see the Freeport tradition of not reading the article continues unabated.

RINO Curtis said this in 2017, not yesterday. He may now be in favor of a wall, but it doesn’t change my opinion of him as a quisling RINO. A good friend of mine thinks he’s great because Curtis responded to one of his emails. It burst his bubble when I told him there was a 99% chance a staffer was who responded with a canned response.

It troubles me that Utah seems to vote for GOPe candidates. I think it’s because they don’t want an EXTREMIST in office. Goldwater was right.

I have no clue. I did a quick search to see if he has endorsed anyone for his seat, after you asked, but I got no relevant returns. So, I guess not, but that is a guess only. He’s not really someone I follow. I voted for him, but only as a vote against Obama. Same for McCain, even though I didn’t really care for either of them.

He has not and very likely will not. He hasn’t endorsed anyone in the Utah Senate race.

When the most conservative candidate (Staggs) doesn’t appear to be viable because of a serious lack of money and/or stature, Trump COULD intervene in order to give the guy a much-needed leg up. Unfortunately the almighty “winning percentage” trumps (forgive the pun) king-making and Staggs isn’t likely to go in the W column in the primary.

Staggs barely registers a pulse in the polling, not that there’s been much polling. The race is Curtis’s to lose at this point, as if we need another RINO scumbag in the Senate.

This is precisely the type of situation where Trump *should* step in, but the writing on the wall says that Utah is going to go for another squish like Romney instead of another conservative like Mike Lee, so Trump’s giving it a wide berth.
