Crime on the subways has become significantly more violent since the pandemic with the number of felony assaults soaring when compared to pre-pandemic levels, an analysis by The Post revealed.
The number of attacks on trains that left victims injured jumped 53% from 2023’s 570 felony assaults to the 373 reported in 2019, according to stats.
Those 200 extra felony assaults meant that attacks resulting in substantial injury accounted for 25% of 2,285 major crimes reported on trains and in stations in 2023, compared to just 15% of the 2,499 major crimes in 2019, the data

This can be blamed on Trump somehow.
Or ignored, if it can’t.
Some citizens try to help. They get arrested real quick and sent to prison with ruined lives. That’ll team ‘em!!
Nope, un-possible. The FIBs say crime is down.
Gee, there must be something wrong here. Jessica Tarlov just said that crime in NYC was going down. Perhaps she meant some other New York City.
If it was just one Democrat city we could put it down to bad management, but it seems every Democrat controlled city (or state such as California) has the same out of control crime, drug use and “homelessness”. Too many to consider it a coincidence. It would appear to an outside observer that the Democrats want things to get this bad. You have to ask yourself why?
Could it be this is a way to make the citizen cry out for more restrictions on their rights to get control of the criminals? After all, during the pandemic the federal, state and local governments all abused the rights of the citizens in the name of fighting the virus.
We will NEVER know the reason for this. Just a fluke.(/S)
It was a lockdown, and it was intentional.
At the same time, these low lifes on TV claim that crime is down.
The subway system is a different State. Different police.
It’s the underground!
KEEP VOTING DEMOCRAT.
Someone better call Bernie Goetz
Yes. The FBI in an attempt to get the Dems re-elected pushed this:
“New FBI statistics show overall violent crime in the U.S. dropped again last year, continuing a downward trend after a pandemic-era spike. Murders dropped 13% in the last three months of 2023 compared with the same period the year before, according to FBI data released this week. Violent crime overall was down 6%.” March 23, 2024.
But the crime victims don’t care.
That was a mistake, but the Guard is gone now. I noticed Friday on my way home LOTS of cops in the stations—and also on the trains, which is the important part. So no one is trapped in a situation.
RE: Someone better call Bernie Goetz
A biased news item recalled “A quadruple shooting on a New York City subway car during a crime-ridden period in the city’s history ignited a heated public debate.”
Wayyyyyyyyyy back then when NYC had a lot of crime in its subways. History buffs can look it up. Crime free today.
Agreed. I kept looking for the piles of bodies, or people dropping dead in the streets, it just wasn’t as bad as the Dems/MSM made it out to be.
“This can be blamed on Trump somehow.
Or ignored, if it can’t.”
Exactly right. The media, Democrats and the RINOs are to blame. They are all covering up the real conditions in this country.

Thanks.
I recall growing up in NYC when John Vliet Lindsay was mayor. Around 1967 there was a murder in the subway, an event that had not occurred in 25 years. The Transit Police force was doubled! There was a police officer on every train and at every station.
I graduated high school in 1968. A girl in my class was horribly murdered on a subway station just before Christmas that year. The crime was never solved. The current situation would have been unthinkable at that time.
