Moscow concert hall attack: Why is ISIL targeting Russia?
Al-Jazeera ^ | March 23, 2024 | Kevin Doyle

Posted on 03/23/2024 7:29:01 PM PDT by canuck_conservative

ISIL’s Afghan branch – also known as the Islamic State in Khorasan Province, ISKP (ISIS-K) – has claimed responsibility for the attack...

“Russian foreign policy has been one big red flag for ISIS [ISIL],” Michael Kugelman, director of the South Asia Institute at the Washington-based Wilson Center told Al Jazeera. “The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, Russian actions in Chechnya, Moscow’s close relationships with the Syrian and Iranian governments, and especially the military campaigns that Russia has waged against ISIS fighters in Syria and — through Wagner Group mercenaries – in parts of Africa.”

“ISK [ISKP] has consistently demonstrated its ambition to evolve into a formidable regional entity … By directing its aggression towards nations such as Iran and Russia, ISK not only confronts regional heavyweights but also underscores its political relevance and operational reach on the global stage,” Jadoon said.

Kabir Taneja, a fellow at the Strategic Studies Programme of the Observer Research Foundation – a think tank based in New Delhi, India – told Al Jazeera that Russia is seen by ISIL and its affiliates as “a crusading power against Muslims”...

“The most compelling current motivation for ISIS-K to attack Russia is the Taliban factor. The Taliban is a bitter rival of ISIS, and ISIS views Russia as a friend of the Taliban,” said Kugelman...

More attacks are possible in Russia and elsewhere, he added, given the key role that ISIL recruits of Central Asian origin – particularly Tajiks – played when the group held territory in Syria. They have now returned to the Central Asia region and their intent to carry out attacks has now materialised in capability, Basit said...

Funny how Muslims only do terrorist attacks and have the resources to do so when the CIA and other western intelligence agencies gain from it

Seriously? 9/11?

ISIS has claimed responsibility for Friday’s on a military base in Niger during which 34 Nigerien soldiers were killed.

100+ ISIS terrorists attacked the base near the village of Teguey in the Tillaberi province

Seems these “terrorists” may not have been muzzies

The official ISIS outlet Al-Amaq releases the video recorded by the terrorists from the Moscow attack

It shows the slowly walking out of the place after killing 140+ people

In the video, 1 of them shouts Allahu Akbar & that they have punished the “kuffars” (infidels)

Bad argument. Ukraine could equally surrender and make peace. It should, in fact.

What if Britain had accepted your argument in 1940?

This was an attack against civilians. Not a military target. Are you saying Ukraine is justified in this action?

Since Ukraine is not in NATO and the US is not in any war or skirmish with Russia, it is only breathtaking that somehow, you think Ukraine is in NATO and the US is at war with Russia.

The U.S., Britain, and Russia all guaranteed, in writing, Ukraine's security in the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 in exchange for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons. Russia broke that agreement in 2014 and again in 2022.

People as crazy as you used to be ZOTTED.

No, people who wish the defeat of America and NATO by the Russians and Islamic terrorists used to be ZOTTED.

Since when has arguing for freedom and liberty and against foreign invasion and brutal slaughter become a zotting offense?

Do Conservatives no longer believe in freedom and liberty, as Reagan did, no matter where it struggles against aggression and dictatorship in the world today?

ISIS-K has attacked Iran, China and India, the Taliban, and now Russia. They haven’t been involved with any attacks on US or NATO assets.

The Taliban are allies of China and Russia; the Kaydrov group and GRU helped the Taliban take Afghanistan in 2021. Ukraine is supposed to be “revenge” for this.

I’m not making a moral judgement. just saying what goes around, comes around. The Germans bombed the hell out of London. I have no tears for Dresden, or Moscow.

If you don’t like war, don’t start one. Btw, we had something called 9-11.

Btw, right up to the end of WWII, the Germans were shooting rockets at London.

I would agree with this.

Patton had them pegged:

“The difficulty in understanding the Russians we do not take cognizance of the fact he is not a European, but an asiatic therefore thinks deviously.
We can no more understand a Russian than Chinese or a Japanese.”

Instead of full-auto posting, derailing the thread and running your head like some wash-wench... you can always just STFU for a minute.

Rambling moron.

It would arguably be more free and more British than it is now. On the Index of Economic Freedom UK ranks behind Chile. And don't speak openly of Jesus in public, you hater!
