Senate majority leader says Israeli prime minister has ‘lost his way’ and warns that country risks becoming ‘a pariah’

In remarks from the Senate floor, Schumer said he had a longstanding relationship with Netanyahu but believed he “has lost his way by allowing his political survival to take precedence over the best interests of Israel”.
Noting the prime minister’s inclusion of far-right officials in his government, Schumer said Netanyahu “has been too willing to tolerate the civilian toll in Gaza, which is pushing support for Israel worldwide to historic lows. Israel cannot survive if it becomes a pariah”.
Israel’s ruling Likud party responded to Schumer by defending the prime minister’s public support and saying Israel is “not a banana republic”.
“Contrary to Schumer’s words, the Israeli public supports a total victory over Hamas, rejects any international dictates to establish a Palestinian terrorist state, and opposes the return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza,” it said in a statement.
“Senator Schumer is expected to respect Israel’s elected government and not undermine it. This is always true, and even more so in wartime.”
The Republican Senate minority leader, Mitch McConnell, struck a similar tone. “Israel is not a colony of America whose leaders serve at the pleasure of the party in power in Washington. Only Israel’s citizens should have a say in who runs their government,” he said from the chamber’s floor, shortly after Schumer spoke.
“Either we respect their decisions, or we disrespect their democracy.”

Schumer is clever enough and has enough media help that he usually avoids getting burned for this sort of thing. Faced now though with a cruel attack from an existential enemy, Israel these days is in no mood to be bullied or trifled with. And Netanyahu, for all his flaws and many political opponents, is seen by Israelis as their essential wartime leader. They will not put him aside at the urging of the likes of Schumer and Biden.

What are you talking about? Netanyahu is the Godfather of Hamas. He has enabled them in all ways possible ---- even authorizing another transfer of suitcases of cash through Qatar in Sept 2023.

Say what you want about Schumer's interference, but your opinion of Schumer doesn't change that Netanyahu is the single most destructive influence on Israeli citizens and world opinion of Israel itself.

The Israli part of the global deep state allowed the attack to try and hurt Netenyahu. They hate him, just like the American part of the Globalist deep state hates President Trump.
I hope he will finish the job, but the way current politics are being played nothing is for sure anymore. A good example is Trump, one of the best presidents this country ever had accomplishing more in his four years than the last two presidents combined.

The Democrats have to find a way to appease the Muslim voters in Michigan and other states, without appearing to denigrate Israelis and p off Jewish voters. So the strategy appears to be to use Netanyahu as the fall guy - he is the obstacle to peace, not the Israeli people, as Kamala Harris said in her speech. (Like the way people refer to dictatorships.)
And who better to use as a cover than a prominent Jew, like Schumer, to attack another Jew? Chuckle just doing the Biden administration’s dirty work.
