If you are old enough to remember Wine Coolers, EV’s followed the exact same trajectory.

There will be Tesla and some high-powered Chinese golf carts. That’s all.

Anybody old enough to remember: CALIFORNIA COOLERS?

“Now the hype is dwindling, and companies are again cheering consumer choice. Automakers from Ford Motor and General Motors to Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Jaguar Land Rover and Aston Martin are scaling back or delaying their electric vehicle plans.”

I shall reward them by never buying one of their future rustmobiles again.

"Gee, why-oh-why would people not want to purchase a super-expensive vehicle that can take more than an hour to charge — and that’s if you can find a charging station?"

Especially when the EV comes with a courtesy coffee cup warmer.

My initial reaction was to call for the drawing and quartering of some CEOs and Directors. But first I want to know how much the taxpaying public kicked in. How big of a net do I need?

Sort of like 3-D TV.

There have been 3 major pushes for 3-D TV over the last 60 years and each sputtered out.

When I’m depressed (as most of the past months) I have to tell myself not everything always goes as bad as it can, all the time, in every way in politics and trends. Although I can barely stand life today.

An anti EV, anti AI Luddite who can’t stand the thought of living as a slave to a Chinese Communist style dictator if we lose the 2024 elections badly.

I believe we will fight back, though. Including me.

Example: Alan Wilson, the great and sincere blues historian, singer and player in Canned Heat apparently killed himself at age 27 on September 3, 1970. Songs included “Going to the Country” and “On the Road Again.”
People said he was so pessimistic and depressed over the total lack of Americans’ concern over saving the environment that this pushed him over the edge. A band member said “If he had only waited a few years he would have seen the huge surge of activism in that area.”

The good news is that the politicians in California and a bunch of "ooh, me too!" blue states have banned real vehicles that work and people want, starting in a few years.

I've said it all along, current gen EVs are like those curly compact fluorescent lightbulbs - bad tech that's not ready for prime time but dumb politicians went all-in with the bans because they're dumb. In the case of the compact fluorescents, they got lucky: they were bailed out by LED bulbs. Not sure a better EV will be available in time to avoid carmageddon when the gas-power engine bans kick in though.

Who knew that governments make very poor industrialists. Another communist 5 year plan will fix it for certain

“For years, the automotive industry has been in a state of EV euphoria”

Yeah, endless decades of government subsidies will get you salivating and induce euphoria.

But maybe they should have asked the dogs if they like the dog food rather than asking the government “How long can you keep this subsidy gravy train going?”

EVs were a fad… like Covid masks, Purell, and “social distancing.”

EV’s are niche vehicles. Sure they can go 0-60 in a hurry, but what good is all of that zip when you are driving in areas that lack charging stations? I can pull into any wide spot in the road and find a gas station. Try that with a Tesla.

That’s another good example which shows that common sense has taken a leave ob absence, even with people who supposedly are “Highly” educated being tought a bunch of rubbish, not being able to disdinquish between what may and may not work. No doubt down the road and in the future there will be lectric cars when all the other parts of missing links are in place and until then, let’s be happy and work with what we have.

But then there are folks out there that swear the EV is here to stay, the car of the future, etc. These people would insist this is false news even while the factories are cutting back because sales are falling off.
