Russians have started using drones with fiber optic cables

According to a Telegram channel (@serhii_flash), the Russian military has begun deploying FPV (First Person View) drones equipped with coils of fiber optic cables, marking a significant advancement in drone communication technologies. The Ukrainian military has encountered one of these unusual drones, which had a 10-kilometer length of fiber optic cable unspooled during flight.

This cable control method offers a crucial advantage on the battlefield as these drones exhibit a unique resistance to electronic interference, making their neutralization extremely difficult, if not impossible, with current methods. The constant and uninterrupted video signal provided by the fiber optic cable allows for high-quality image transmission, thereby increasing the precision and effectiveness of strikes. Additionally, this technology eliminates the "radio horizon" phenomenon, which can cause a loss of connection in the drone's final meters of flight.

The battlefield is rapidly evolving. A counter to evolving jamming techniques. How long before the Ukes have duplicated these devices, hours, days?

The ANTI-WOKE Russian engineers are so-far AHEAD of us, it’s now become COMICAL.

Only a FLAMING LEFTIST could think otherwise.

How long before the Ukes U.S. "intelligence community" duplicates these devices, hours, days?

Fixed it.

There is a near zero percent chance that the electronic warfare is being done by Ukrainian troops.

A very good question. One has to wonder at the sheer weight.

And they can get 200 channels and live-stream their favorite sports, while fighting the enemy

Have you ever examined the TOW missile’s wire? We started using TOW’s when I was in, in the 70’s.

“How long before the Ukes have duplicated these devices, hours, days?”

Probably months. This isn’t Star Trek where twinks in spandex invent new technology and devices is 5 minutes. Mating together even well-understood technologies takes a bit of engineering for reliability. If the Ukrainians and NATO don’t already build this technology you are looking at over 6 months if you are lucky.

Maybe George Washington Zelensky can pull one out of his arse because he is magical.

A Zeeper myth that Russia only has junk. While we have been coddling homos and trans they have been innovating.

How much would a ten kilometer spool of optical fiber weigh?

How big would the drone have to be to lift it?

How would the drag of the fiber affect the control of the drone?

Inquiring minds, and all that.

Did you see the picture of what I assume was the one recovered by the Ukes? The drone had what appeared to be a deep sea fishing reel attached to it. I’m getting over being surprised by what both sides are accomplishing with small expendable drones.

Yes I have heard and I am familiar with TOW missiles, but I am still wondering what diameter the fiber optic cable is?????? And way back in the 70’s with no fiber optics they must have used wire cables.....well just wondering?
