The battlefield is rapidly evolving. A counter to evolving jamming techniques. How long before the Ukes have duplicated these devices, hours, days?

The ANTI-WOKE Russian engineers are so-far AHEAD of us, it’s now become COMICAL.

Only a FLAMING LEFTIST could think otherwise.
(let’s see who shows up here...)

How long before the Ukes U.S. "intelligence community" duplicates these devices, hours, days?

Fixed it.

at first i thought maybe comms lines to the front for secure communications

There is a near zero percent chance that the electronic warfare is being done by Ukrainian troops.

And they can get 200 channels and live-stream their favorite sports, while fighting the enemy

“How long before the Ukes have duplicated these devices, hours, days?”

Probably months. This isn’t Star Trek where twinks in spandex invent new technology and devices is 5 minutes. Mating together even well-understood technologies takes a bit of engineering for reliability. If the Ukrainians and NATO don’t already build this technology you are looking at over 6 months if you are lucky.

Maybe George Washington Zelensky can pull one out of his arse because he is magical.

How much would a ten kilometer spool of optical fiber weigh?

How big would the drone have to be to lift it?

How would the drag of the fiber affect the control of the drone?

Inquiring minds, and all that.

This is what happens when Jao Bai-din and his Democrat Socialist cohorts are owned by Communist China.

Communist China sells such technologies as they see fit.

We’ve had wire guided munitions for years... Nothing unusual here. Fiberoptic guidance is just the next step.

The US was experimenting with fiberoptic guided missiles in 1994.

The Israelis have been selling fiberoptic guided missiles since 2004.

The technology has been around for a good while. An essentially "tethered" drone has its own vulnerability problems.

Wouldn’t it be easier to just use quantum entanglement for secure communications? ;-)

A drone is powerful enough to drag around SIX MILES of fiber and have some useful battery life? Hard to believe.

It’s an extension of a TOW missile. Wire guided.

There can be some advantages. But the disadvantage is with that 10km cable. The drone operators become sitting ducks. Anyone operating around the long cable is put at risk.

But yes the battlefield dynamics are changing. If Putin wants to beat America he would try to get a bunch of agents snuck in the US to use such devices and do plenty of sabatoge. Of course the US leaders like Biden are aware of this & if they want to keep America safe they have long secured the borders extremely well.

That last part is sarcasm. Biden has been a disaster.

The drone version of the old wire- guided middles from the 60’s.

Requires overhead, targeting device -type drone for long distance. FPV is basically a guided “artlllery shell” - not launched from a heavy field artillery gun.
