I am reminded of Teddy Roosevelt’s “Citizenship in a Republic” speech in which he notes that it is not the critic, but the warrior, whose face is marked by the strains and stress of combat most foul but who nonetheless distinguishes himself by being the man in the arena and not an observer on the sidelines.
To the point, Gowdy offers his critique of Trump while it is he, Gowdy, who has chosen to withdraw from the contest rather than fight for his principles as Trump is doing, despite a tilted pitch and having to lean into the offensive winds of the Deep State.

I have defended Trey Gowdy in the past because he personally stepped in and helped us against the Obama administration regarding a business transaction. But he’s obviously comprised himself to retain his fox news contributor status as controlled opposition. Sad.
