Austin, Texas residents are expressing outrage over police staffing shortages and longer 911-call response times in the aftermath of the city council's vote to defund the department in 2020.
In February, a section of the city was notably left without a single police officer for a few hours on a Saturday due to the ongoing shortages.
Austin Police Association President Michael Bullock, who called attention to the vacancy on X, told Fox News Digital that a steady decline in public safety has put the city on the "brink of disaster."

Be careful what you vote for.

Why ask for God’s *help* to fix a problem you deliberately created?
He gave you brains. USE THEM!
Fix it yourself by doing the right thing.
In the meantime, since Texas has great gun and self-defense laws, it would behoove the populace to be ready to handle issues on their own and let the chips fall where they may. Maybe if the criminal element experiences some attrition instead of being rewarded for their criminal behavior, it would stop or at least slow way down.
At the very least, it could cut into the recidivism rate.

My brother lives down there and I can’t understand for the life of me why. A rural Kansas farm boy living in that cesspool. I think I’d got nuts in two days. Much prefer living out here on the farm, nearest neighbor is a half mile away.

You need to de-fund the police more, Austin.
Indeed they do.

The next bet would be if the governor would be willing to bail them out for their bad judgment by sending in the state police. Odds would favor them stewing in their own juices.Abbott done did that.
