Ukraine Can’t Win the War
Time ^ | FEBRUARY 24, 2024 | ANATOL LIEVEN

Posted on 03/02/2024 10:01:14 PM PST by MinorityRepublican

The long-awaited counteroffensive last year failed. Russia has recaptured Avdiivka, its biggest war gain in nine months. President Volodymyr Zelensky has been forced to quietly acknowledge the new military reality. The Biden Administration’s strategy is now to sustain Ukrainian defense until after the U.S. presidential elections, in the hope of wearing down Russian forces in a long war of attrition.

This strategy seems sensible enough, but contains one crucially important implication and one potentially disastrous flaw, which are not yet being seriously addressed in public debates in the West or Ukraine. The implication of Ukraine standing indefinitely on the defensive—even if it does so successfully—is that the territories currently occupied by Russia are lost. Russia will never agree at the negotiating table to surrender land that it has managed to hold on the battlefield.

This does not mean that Ukraine should be asked to formally surrender these lands, for that would be impossible for any Ukrainian government. But it does mean that—as Zelensky proposed early in the war with regard to Crimea and the eastern Donbas—the territorial issue will have to be shelved for future talks.

Biden's Ukraine Election Strategy; Prolong the War Until November

Biden is only in for Ukraine for several reasons. 1) providing support to Zelensky is a bribe to keep multiple Biden family misdealings there quiet (along with multiple US funded research labs there it couldn’t have in the US. 2) Using support for Ukraine as a distraction and diversion from the abysmal job he’s done with the US economy, and 3) to distract from all the Biden Regime climate-related and woke related oppression it wants to implement.

In ANY case by the election, win or lose, Biden will abandon UKR, period. He won’t need them anymore. UKR’s Sell-by-Date is November 5, 2024

Only the US government is stupid enough to back Ukraine in a war against Russia. This shows how out of control the DS 3-letter agencies are, and we better stop them.

"When are we going to make the American military Great Again?"

The main rot is centered in the Pentagon, Congress and K Street.

Sort of like Powell Doctrine.

Powell, of course, is best remembered for holding up a stage prop at the UN General Assembly and swearing Iraq had WMDs.

Putin is a Stalin wannabe. He will conquer all of Ukraine sooner or later now that Congress has cut off military aid to the Ukrainian soldiers who are fighting against long odds and will be overwhelmed by superior numbers and firepower.

Once peace is given a chance Putrid will finish the job of totally destroying the Ukrainian people that Stalin started in 1933:

“Another war lost by America. When are we going to make the American military Great Again?”

I take serious offense to that remark. With exception to today’s woke military, our military has always been great.

Korea was a stalemate, thus no clear victory, because Harry Truman stopped MacArthur.

Vietnam was a military success which resulted in the Paris Peace Accords which called for the withdrawal of the US military. The democrat party, led by Ted Kennedy, withdrew support to South Vietnam and forbid reentry of US military. The south fought tot he last bullet and gallon of gas and lost.

In Iraq and Afghanistan our military performed well. The political quagmire back home of having eternal wars to benefit the military industrial prevented a win strategy.

Sir, remarks like yours not only tick me off, but offend any veteran that served with honor. I suggest you pull your head out of that dark smelly spot, see the daylight and breath some fresh air. It might clear your thinking.

This does not mean that Ukraine should be asked to formally surrender these lands, for that would be impossible..

Author is in the Land of Make believe, where losers set terms on what's "impossible" or not. As if the Germans could have found it "impossible" to hand half their nation to the USSR.

This author, like most of our media and leadership are in fantasy world. He thinks he can write the ending. Same with the Uke harpies here. Pig ignorance - to the point of being worthy of a choking.

The Uke losers and their western agitators (same thing) aleady fk'd themselves out of a much better deal than they will now get. If they're not careful, they will lose Odessa too.

IMO, Russia doesn't need to do a thing but sit at the edges of their new borders and watch us throw all our money and gear into the Uke $**thole.

It's working.

Russia is withering economically. The Ruble decline has resumed. Export sales of weapons has dried up. Oil and gas exports have declined to 50% or so. Gasoline exports were ceased entirely. Imported food has precipitously declined. Alcohol use on a large scale has resumed.

etc, etc, etc.

bert: “But Putin gacka gacka yakkity yack blah blah.”

We read all the stories bert. Please tell thr the forum how you get Russia off their new borders. Certainly not by fighting a reactionary proxy war run by abject morons woth no plans.

Whatever bad things and military defeats that were planned for Russia aren’t happening, so now you get plan b, which you will not like. Plan c coming soon.
