Even Leviticus

You are to be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy.

Leviticus 20:26

The topic was Leviticus, and I had a confession to make. “I skipped a lot of the reading,” I told my Bible study group. “I’m not reading about skin diseases again.”

That’s when my friend Dave spoke up. “I know a guy who believed in Jesus because of that passage,” he said. Dave explained that his friend—a doctor—had been an atheist. He decided that before he completely rejected the Bible, he’d better read it for himself. The section on skin diseases in Leviticus fascinated him. It contained surprising details about contagious and noncontagious sores (13:1–46) and how to treat them (14:8–9). He knew this far surpassed the medical knowledge of that day—yet there it was in Leviticus. There’s no way Moses could have known all this, he thought. The doctor began to consider that Moses really did receive his information from God. Eventually he put his faith in Jesus.

If parts of the Bible bore you, well, I’m with you. But everything it says is there for a reason. Leviticus was written so the Israelites would know how to live for and with God. As we learn more about this relationship between God and His people, we learn about God Himself.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,” wrote the apostle Paul (2 Timothy 3:16). Let’s read on. Even Leviticus. .

Reflect & Pray

What sections of the Bible bore you or seem irrelevant? How can you learn to recognize their value?

Father, teach me how to appreciate the Bible. Let every part speak to me.

Previous concerns for our troops:

Back during the great depression, Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.

Harry Truman deported over two million illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for Returning veterans.

In 1954 Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexicans. The program was called Operation Wetback. It was done so WWII and Korean War veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but they deported them!

Howdy, Kathy.

Hump Day!
And a pretty day to look at up there, though it’s frigid and windy. It would be nice if the wind dies down by the time you have to head out tomorrow.

We had a drastic change here today. It was 75 yesterday, 68 when I went to bed this morning, and 45 when I woke up this afternoon. Gonna have a hard freeze overnight.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...are you going to make it thru winter with minimal snow?

Hope you and Tippy are enjoying the lighter mornings for your walks.

And in just a couple weeks our clocks “spring ahead”.

Good evening, radu...has your wind stopped?

We have started since late morning. It comes and goes, but it’s been blowing off the roof enough to cover my front porch. LOL! It’s supposed to get down to zero tonight.

Probably had 150+ ducks about an hour ago. They were a huge mass and I had trouble getting corn out into the yard...the wind was blowing in.

Hey there, Kathy.

No, the wind hasn't stopped but it's died down quite a bit this evening. It's nice not hearing it banging the windows.

Your wind's been pretty stout today. No way to turn the speakers on when I have the Lake Hood cam up. I'm not surprised it's blowing the snow off your roof after seeing what it's done to the snow on the lake. That would make for a jarring ride if one of the seaplanes tried to land on it. None have attempted today. Yesterday, there were a lot of ski tracks across the lake and none are visible now.

Only 150 ducks? Your numbers are down. LOL I recall counting over 250 one time. I hope these were able to get the corn you were able to toss to them this evening.

Aaaaand now I wait for Comcast to let me post. *sigh*

Howdy, luvie.

Very touching image.

Are the kitties holed up in their warm spots tonight. You had a drastic change in temperature and they probably don’t like it a bit.

Hey there, radu!

I haven’t seen much of them today, and I’m sure they are wondering what the heck happened to the warmth. LOL! Actually, though it was pretty darn chilly, I welcome it just so it won’t just keep getting hotter and out-do last year’s summer. We don’t need another one of those!

I noticed that our temps were very similar today, you’re already much colder tonight and will be for the rest of this week anyhow. Did you get any white stuff like they predicted? Did it melt before you even had a chance to see it?
