MOVING BEYOND CAPE BOJADOR

The early Portuguese explorers believed that the oceans were impassable below Cape Bojador, a point on the West African coast. When sailors set aside their fears and moved past Cape Bojador, they found that their fears were groundless, that their limitations were imaginary. We all have our own Cape Bojador. We fear things that we need not fear. We draw boundaries around areas of our lives and decide that we can't go past them.

Since we believe these false paradigms, we will stay within their artificial boundaries and lose whatever experiences we might have found outside them. What limits do we set upon ourselves? Have you thought about working on your college degree, but fear getting started? Does a certain rating appeal to you, but others have told you it was unattainable, so you have remained where you are? Advancement or promotion seems so far away that we resign ourselves to our present position and fail to expand our skills and knowledge.

More than 300 years before the time of Christ, Alexander the Great was marching across Asia Minor. He led the greatest army ever put together up to that time. They had conquered every foe. No one could stand up against them. They reached the Himalaya Mountains, and the advance leaders came back to Alexander full of concern and dismay. "We have marched off the map," they said. "We should go back to where we know." And they had literally marched off the known map of that time. Alexander listened to them and then said this: "Mediocre armies always stay within the known areas. The great armies always march off the map."

Making decisions, initiating new relationships, starting projects, taking a leap of faith, all require that we go beyond our Cape Bojador. Are we willing to press on and take the chance of "marching off the map?" Let's go for it! Full speed ahead!

Hey there, Kathy.

No windows open today!! All we could squeak out was 35 degrees this afternoon and the wind has been whipping out of the north pretty hard. Might get a crack-a-window-open day or two next week.

I read in Lake Hood chat that it didn’t warm up much today. Not good after the melting yesterday. Wise move not getting out of the car to check the mail. Spikies are a necessity.

Hey there, radu!

No, it wasn’t comfortable at all. I think the high was only like 42 or so. Breezy. I didn’t go out except to feed the kitties, and they didn’t hang around long. That gray beauty and Tux were there, but just briefly. They wanted sunshine. Tux was back tonight.

Did you or are you getting any of the snow they promised?

It was a little better than it was here. It only made it up to 35 this afternoon with a nasty north wind. The sun broke out for a little while but the clouds thickened again before sunset. Warm-up begins tomorrow so it’s good.

Good! Tux is still showing up even though that pretty boy is there. I thought Tux might be afraid of him and stay away while he was around.

Nope, no snow here last night thank goodness. All the wet was out of here before it got cold enough.

Good evening, lightman, and a Blessed Lord’s day to you and yours.

And a blessed First Sunday in Lent (Western)/Thirty-third Sunday after Pentecost† (Orthodox).

How’s the snow situation?

Yay that the snow has left the area. Who needs that aggravation! LOL! The cold was bad enough, and the wind just always makes things worse.

It’ll warm up to 58 or so tomorrow afternoon, but will still be pretty chilly when we head off to church in the morning. I will be wearing my cords. LOL!

Friday night/Saturday morning snow was sweet....very “light” and fluffy; and the roads were warm enough that they were almost totally bare.

Most of it was melted by afternoon, although some places had late afternoon snow squall.

Now readying for lows in the upper teens.

There wasn’t much snow in TN yesterday. The front whizzed through and there really wasn’t much moisture with it like there was farther north. We got lucky.

It sounds like you’ll stay 10 degrees warmer than us again tomorrow.

I guess that’s not too bad a gap in temperatures. Y’all are more north than we are. I wonder if beachy got snow. She wasn’t looking forward to it either.

A very pleasant good Sunday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country.

Yesterday at Comanche Lake.

Yes, that is a carcus. I gave Giz a shower when we got back home. He didn't smell too bad though.

Another smelly spot he found.

He just finished rolling over this spot when I took this picture.

Yep, Gizmo had a grand time out there yesterday. It was cold and cloudy but that didn't faze him.

How's everyone doing this morning?

The gap will be a lot wider later in the week when you said you’ll have temps in the 80s. We won’t get nearly that warm. We’ll have one day in the mid 60s and the rest will be a little cooler. Still not bad temps for February.

No, those are great temperatures for February. 86 is NOT. 86 is for late March. Of course, it’s only one day, but it puts the fear of summer into me. LOL!

I thlink I’d better finish this show and head out. I’m getting another headache. I think my sinuses are acting up. Allergies this time of year are a way of life. See ya tomorrow! :)

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

So my eyes didn’t deceive me last night. LOL Poor bird.

Gizmo gets frisky when it’s cold so he must have worn you out yesterday. :-) At least all that exercise helped keep you warm.

The norm is around 50 so we’ll be a little above normal a few days. Nights are going to be cold (20s) until later in the week. BRRRRR I could do without! LOL

I sympathize with the allergy issues. They haven’t cranked up here yet but the time is drawing near.
I hope your headache is gone when you wake up. Sleep well and be kind to your alarm.

He sure enjoyed himself out there yesterday. It’s supposed to get into the lower 50’s today so we’ll see what happens.
