Patti Davis, daughter of former President Ronald Reagan, said he doesn’t think her father would be embraced by today’s Republican Party ― and that the feeling would be mutual.
“I don’t think he would... and I don’t see how he would want to be in it,” she told CNN’s Jim Acosta on Sunday. “It’s so diametrically opposed to what he believed and to the dignity that he felt that people in government should have.”
She mentioned Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) trying to get into a physical fight with labor union leader Sean O’Brien in the middle of a Senate committee hearing last year.
“My father would be appalled at this,” she said. “This is not a bar. This is in the Senate chambers.”

Here they go again, trotting out Reagan’s ghost. They’re getting worried.
Not only would Reagan support today’s GOP. Half the old school Democrats would be appalled by things like transgender surgeries for minors and gay porn in school libraries that the Dems are pushing.
I knew some Venezuelan women when I was attending UF.
They were white, intelligent, and saw what was coming.
My sample size was small and ChemE majors, so unlikely common.
Luckily we’re getting the heart removal crew from Venezuelan prisons.

IIRC, Patti Davis didn’t want anything to do with her father’s GOP. Maybe she just hates Conservatives/Republicans.
Wasn’t Patti estranged from her dad for an extended period of time?

There is no shortage of posters here who value money over morality and society.
Reagan was quoted after his presidency that his major regret was having posted the Marines to the Beirut barracks which were out in the open and targeted by bombers that killed 240. This was a harebrained neocon idea that was foisted on Reagan and he never repeated anything like it. I really doubt he would have gone along with the Iraq craziness or the deep involvement in places like Syria, Jordan and Yemen - Bush Jr. neocon madness at its worst.
Reagan was fooled by the NeoCons. They were doing things behind his back. But he did believe in Peace and Free Market and Democracy. So he would have been far more polite than Trump. He and Trump would have had the same end goals. And the left would have attacked Reagan mercilessly for his religion, his stand against public unions and his fight for free markets.
Didn’t Bush convince him to do that?

Well, as Teddy Roosevelt famously whipped, When they call the roll in the Senate the Senators don’t know whether to say “present” or “not guilty”. She might be right but not for the reason she thinks. The Senate is a cesspool of corruption.
They did attack him for those things. They treated him a horribly as they did Trump.
I think Michael has a better connection to what his father would think. Patti and Ron just speak for themselves.

It’s interesting. Jane Wyman’s kids were good. Nancy’s two, Patti and Ron Jr, were and are brats.
I don’t recall her being in her father’s good graces during his presidency. I kinda remember her as an embarrassment to Ron.
